Journal Entry for May 14, 2008 Mood

Not a bad day, but I am learning that I am not good at two hours of sleep a day!  Was late to work but it wasn't that bad.  I had one resident get pissed off and delusional (dementia and schizophrenia are NOT a happy combo) and start banging on my door with her cane.   You could tell in her eyes she had snapped and either needed a PRN or a nice little outpatient vacation.  Instead, I get nurses who promise a delusional resident what she wants to calm her down and not have to give her meds instead of listening to the person with a fricken degree!! Yep, little annoyed. I have no beef with nurses in general, just those who promise shit they can't deliver instead of listening to advice.  Had another that likes to wander and one that passed away today.  It seems like a lot but it's a pretty normal occurence.  I do feel sorry for the family though.  It's bad that I have seen so much death at work that it is almost a protocol.  I mourn and then move to what needs to be done.  NOt the same as losing someone personally.  I'm just sleepy today and have gotten a bit numb.  Not in a bad mood, just too tired to think about it.
