Close Fibromyalgia
I was dx 12 yrs ago. Sympt. have been so bad I had to quit work for a while. Currently in flare up after gall bladder surgery. Able to work but very tired and hurting.
Treatments
- Aqua Therapy Working / Worked
- Have jet tub in home- helps soothe aching muscles.
- Cymbalta Working / Worked
- Also suffer from depression. Don't see much effect on fibro
- Effexor Not Working
- was on for depression- never saw any effect on fibro- quit being effective for depression
- Elavil Not Working
- Given to help me sleep- not very effective
- Heat Working / Worked
- Love heat- the only thing that brings comfort
- Ultram Working / Worked
- Worked but current dr. won't prescribe due to antidepressents and possible side effects. gives me lortab instead which I can only take when I'm not working
- Massage Working / Worked
- Very helpful esp. if I can do on a regular basis in conjunction with chiropractor
Close Painful Intercourse
I was dx with genital lichen planus 4 years ago. Even with treatment, sex is painful and not pleasurable like it used to be. It's been very hard on my marriage.
Treatments
- Protopic Working / Worked
- At first it burned but it has calmed down the itching and burning. Still I just stay kind of sore all the time.
- Betamethasone (Topical) Working / Worked
- This was effective when I was first diagnosed but it has the side effect of thinning the tissue so doctors dont like for you to use it long term. It got the itching under control after a few weeks of use.
- Fluconazole Working / Worked
- At first I had to be on this for 6 months to get the yeast infectiondamaged skin cycle under control. Now I take it at the first sign of infection.
Open Migraine Headaches
I'm 51 and have had migraines since I was in my teens. There's a strong family history. They are getting worse since my fibromyalgia has worsened. Neurologist says that I need to get FM under control to get migraines under control.
Treatments
- Amerge Not Working
- Amerge helped some but only if I could get it at the beginning.
- Aspirin Not Working
- Doesn't help
- Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Working / Worked
- Strong smells, lights, sounds and tastes will trigger headache when I'm sensive to one. I can just feel it coming on.
- Caffeine Somewhat Helpful
- Excedrin Working / Worked
- Sometimes will work
- Imitrex Working / Worked
- Didn't help at all. Triptans don't help since I wake up with headache.
- Topamax Working / Worked
- Helped a lot at first. Have upped the dose to 200 mg and it's not as effective but still helps
- Tylenol Working / Worked
- Not effective
- Zomig Working / Worked
- Worked for a while but began needing to use several doses to relieve one headache
- Migranal Working / Worked
- Works though sometime have to repeat dose in 24 hours
