katie Mood
Wednesday, August 27, 2008 | A General Update story
Katie is now 17 months old. She's doing well. She can sit unaided now. She's trying to crawl but prefers to spend her time in her walker as she likes being on her feet. Her phisio says that her muscles in her hips need to be strengthened as she is a bit wobbly. We are waiting for a standing frame to help her with this, but dont know how long it will take to get it. She loves playing with her toys and her favorite is her Fifi. Her brother and sisters spoil her and love playing with her. She is doing well with feeding although liquids are still a problem. She still has a nasel fedding tube but is on the waiting list for a tube in her stomach.

Katie's first year Mood
Monday, March 3, 2008
Katie has just celebrated her first birthday. Looking back on the year its been a year of alot of mixed emotions. After her tramatic birth and the discovery of her downs, then was the feeling that although i knew i could cope, but would my new partner. Which i can say, he has really well. Then there's been all the hospital, doctor and other appointments. Although that has settled down, wondered how we would ever have time for a life. But it has settled down and now its just part of our every day routine. Think the biggest part of this year was waiting for her open heart surgery, which she didnt have till 6 months old. Those 6 months were the hardest as she was not at all well. She had no quality of life. Any stress ment that she went blue and stopped breathing. Then the day finally came for her to be operated on. Having to hand her over in the operating theatre was the hardest thing we have ever had to do. Knowing that it should be ok but there was always a chance that it could go wrong. Then seeing her connected to all the tubes. And the only thing you can do is be there and pray that she pulls through. Luckily katie did pull through even though her recovery was slow. Now i look at her and the progress is amazing. She's so happy and full of energy. She no longer goes blue or stops breathing. And is making good progress. All i can say is that although its been a difficult year, its been well worth it. Just to see her smile, lights up our world. I can only thank god for giving us our precious angel.
