I did fine, no medals but our basketball team took the gold and several of the fellows took metals in golf and other events. It really isn't about the metals anyway, I was just so blessed to go. I can't wait till 2010. I will be in better shape then to participate. God Bless....Paula

    • Close Renal Cell Carcinoma (Kidney Cancer)

I lost my kidneys due to vaccines I received while serving in the Marine Corps. I have had my transplant for over 7 years and I am doing great.

      Treatments

      Dialysis Somewhat Helpful
My body was already very week and I did not handle the treatment well. I ended up with many grand mal seizures.
      Kidney Transplant Working / Worked
I do really well with my kidney. But because the removed my original kidneys I am very anemic and will have to take procrit for the rest of my life. I hate that. But that's really the only hurdle I struggle with.
      Nephrectomy Not Working
They removed my kidneys thinking it would bring down my blood pressure...that didn't work. Now I am very anemic and my torso looks like I have been malled by a shark. But, when I go to the beach...and wear a bikini...I do tell the curious gawkers that the scars were from a shark attack...they don't get in the water after that!
