My basement was a wreck !!
My husband and I are selling his house in the next town over. He built it in 2000 and it is beautiful. anyway...most of his things are still there and we are not talking little things, he has a complete wood shop with indrustial machines. If you have read my prior journal you know what a perfectionist my husband is and my house is a dump compared to his.
About 5yrs ago I asked my father to help me get this house, it was abanoned for 4yrs and was in terrible shape. It was so bad that the neighbors said they were gonna burn it down. Broken windows, graffiti, broken toilet with 3yr old tird still in it (lol) the ceiling was falling in and there was a family of raccoons living here. When my father seen the house for the first time he said " REBECCA !!!! This place has NOTHING but Potintal !!!!!!!" and when my kids seen it they cried their eyes out " Mom why is this gonna be our house? " I fell in love with the lot and felt like I could do it. I gutted the entire house pretty much by myself, 6 dumpsters of stinky walls and garbage. Before I could get an occupancy permit I had to get a new roof, new windows, tear off asbestos siding and put on new siding, all new plunbing, electric and everything.
The house was a one story A-frame with tons of wasted space. So I asked my father," if we have to tear off the roof , why don't we add another floor?" So we did. So now the house is 3 beds and 2 baths. It is a million times better than it was but most of it is half ass.
My husband has been dreading moving in here. He sleeps here, eats here and showers here but his things are still in his house. The living area is ok but the basement was another story. A complete wrek !!! So I prayed to God and asked him for the strength to buckle down and clean up my mess so my husband doesn't have too. So Wednesday night after everyone was asleep I went in the basement and turned on the radio (smoked a little pot) and started cleaning all through the night. Sent my hubby off to work and sent the kids off to school and prayed again and continued to work until 5:30 pm. I cleaned for over 18 hours. I could not have done that in the shape that i'm in without God pushing me through. I did it so that I can have a stress free recovery. I Did It !!!!!!!! My brain is a little fuzzy..... I need some good R&R

Like so many folks on here my marriage breaking up hit me out of the blue or so I choose to believe. Devoted …
This summer we're getting a driveway put down to our house. We've lived here over thirty years without one. It's hard …
Kudos and great job! Unfortunately, if you are anything like me this 18 hour cleaning frenzy will come back and haunt your joints, especially precipation in the air. But I am so proud of you. Sometimes you just have to dive in head first and just work til the work gets done. I was able to taht a few months ago in our third bedroom aka my office, but have yet mustered the strength or energy to dig into bedrooms 2 ( Jack's office) or 3 (our room!). Your house sounds great and I think it is super what you were able to accomplish. If your hubby can't appreciate it tough, it is home, your home and by choice now his. I hope he sell his place quickly. As you know the market is not exactly moving quickly, especially in the suburbs, but good luck with it all. Also, let me take this time to wish you a wonderful Mother's Day. Whatever you do always remember that you are the best mom you can be and that is super in my book! ((hugs))marcia
