Medical examiners have explained the \"classification\"

My husband and I made an appointment to see the medical examiner so that they could explain Daniel's autopsy in detail . It was really hard to discuss what they found in my son's little body, but I am really glad we went and asked all of the questions we had gathered together. It was good to know that Daniel had no genetic disorders, no heart conditions, and that he was normal. They found another cause of death which is not SIDS. They concluded that his sleep position, which was on his belly, had nothing to do with his cause of death and that he would have passed away on his back the same way.
I guess I wasn't doing a very good job in explaining what they concluded because my husband decided to help me summarize the autopsy results. My husband wrote the following: In the autopsy, they found that Daniel had Bronchial Pneumonia due to infantile reflux. He aspirated regurgitated gastric contents. In other words, he choked on his vomit, and it went into his lungs. Even though no vomit was found in his mouth or on the sheets, they concluded this because of inflammation and bacteria they found in his lungs. They think that the pneumonia was not present for a long time, and must've happened shortly before death, because the bacteria was supposedly localized and not widespread throughout the lungs. There, I guess he wrote it better than I did, so I made changes around to the way he summarized it. Thanks for your support!

wow. this blows my mind! we're still waiting on our autopsy results - another 4 to 6 weeks probably. what happened with wesley was one day (sunday) he just wasn't himself - hungry but cried when eating, sleepy but only slept in your arms. in 24hrs he slept alone once for 2hrs in the crib. the rest of the time we was in his bouncy chair or in my arms. monday morning im feeding him and he seems to be feeling a little better. he starts crying, i turn to put the bottle down and turn back to pick him up but in that minute of time he stopped crying and i remember him looking really weird. i picked him up and his body fell limp to my shoulder. he wasn't breathing. we tried cpr until the EMT came. we noticed with CPR that there was liquid in his lungs. prior to that he had no problems with breathing - no coughing or anything. his skin was cold and clammy that day. he was breathing rapidly but he had been crying throughout the day so we weren't concerned with that. we even counted his breaths and compared it to averages we found on the internet. i've seen alot of SIDS autopsy reports and your son's is the closest thing that i'd imagine would be our results. it makes sense - sucks completely but makes sense. so in the end, ur son didn't die of SIDS because they found a conclusive diagnosis?
