Everyone thought it might had been SIDS since he passed so suddenly and unexpectedly during his nap. In the autopsy, they found that Daniel had Bronchial Pneumonia due to infantile reflux. He aspirated regurgitated gastric contents.  In other words, he choked on his vomit, and it went into his lungs. Even though no vomit was found in his mouth or on the sheets, they concluded this because of inflammation of his lungs and the bacteria they found in his lungs.  They think that the pneumonia was not present for a long time, and must've happened shortly before death, because the bacteria was supposedly localized and not widespread throughout the lungs.
