Between the ages of 13-17 my mother’s fiancée was an alcoholic. Fortunately, he is no longer in our life. While I do believe that having more exposure to negative romantic relationships than to positive ones left me behind the curve, I don’t see myself as cursed by it. I learned what not to do from my childhood experiences, but have had to use trial and error to learn about what the Do’s, as a whole my relationship choices have improved with time. While I do believe that exposure to negative romantic relationships left me behind the curve, I don’t see myself as cursed by it. I am comfortable with my level of emotional stability and cognitive abilities. And I have recently become comfortable with having insecurities (I used to think that all insecurities were to be abolished; now I see them as part of being human).
