“Patriotism is supporting your country all the time,
and your government when it deserves it”. ~ Mark Twain
This quote from Mark Twain says it pretty close for me. Thomas Jefferson also said something along the lines of ( and I wish I could find the quote ) " To Keep a Government honest the people need to rise up in Arms against it when needed "
I gave 16 years of my life to this country, I support the troops in siprit if nothing else. But I cannot support this government. I, and many other Americans, do not trust anything that comes out of Washington's mouth. None of our politicians seem to truly give a damn about WE the citizens of this country.
Every 4 years we try to vote for the lesser of 2 evils, although it has been shown in the recent past that Our votes do not count. We listen to the speeches and the rhetoric and try to glean some truth out of it.
Unfortunately we never learn the truth until it is way too late.
On this 4th I would like to ask that everyone here in the U. S. Think about this November, think beyond party politics. Don't vote Republican or Democrat just BECAUSE.
We have lost our country folks to all the people Eisenhower warned us about.
"All it takes for Evil to triumph is for Good Men to do nothing"
So very well said. I completely agree with this. I wish more people could see this too!

Wow, well said, and being a Canadian...it's all true here too. And I agree totally with you.

excellent words, i know im not american but the rulers of your nation effect my country massively, the thing about aussie politics is that really they are all a bunch of snivelling brown nosers that do as they are told by other governments, i hate voting. I JUST HATE IT!!! because like you say its the lesser of two evils, there is never a good option and who ever you trust in looking after your interests and your country is always going to shaft you in the long run, or in many cases lately, as soon as they take their seat.
well done druid as usual, very clear passionate words!!
HUGS!!

Weeeeellllllllllll.................. that was wonderful and sickenly sweet.. LOL
i hate politics, i really do. honestly, i know i should vote, but i dont, i never have.
its not that i dont care what happens to us, i just dont like hearing all the opinions and so on and so forth. I personally, have enough confusion in my life.
one of my friends is very against illegal immigration, sure, i understand her points, and some of it chaps my ass too, like the medical system. but then again, how many americans, would really want to pick razberries and cherries, and such, for 25 cents a pound or whatever. i dont know. she just goes off about it all the time. it gets old because she is so political and opinionated. i went to an airport with her, and she was pissed off at every person who walked 2 ft away from their bags, and every person wearing a towel. just drove me nuts and embarrassed me. so i reallly stay out of it now, after having a taste of that.
