    • Close Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
      Type: Relapsing-remitting MS

I am a 50 year old mother of three diagnosed with MS in October of 2006.

      Treatments

      Avonex Working / Worked
Side effects were easily taken care of with ibuprofen (flu-like symptoms); felt more energetic for a few days and symptoms seemed to improve. Very few side effects now.
      Symmetrel Somewhat Helpful
Given this for fatigue. Sometimes I think it helps; sometimes not.
LDN - Low Dose Naltrexone Working / Worked
I believe it is giving me more energy and motivation! I feel much less overwhelmed when I take it.
      Laughter Working / Worked
Nothing beats a hearty laugh--makes me feel wonderful! I have a quirky sense of humor, but so enjoy laughter.
      Prayer Working / Worked
This should actually be my #1 treatment because without faith, I am nothing.
    • Close Diabetes Type 2

I was diagnosed with diabetes two years ago (type II). Fortunately, I am able to control it through diet and exercise. Four months ago, I was diagnosed with Multiple Schlerosis. I am a high school teacher.

      Treatments

      Dietary Modification Working / Worked
When I watch carbs. and exercise, it is easy to keep my blood sugar at appropriate levels. I've become much more knowledgeable about carbs. and portion sizes.
    • Open Depression
      Type: Clinical (Major) Depression

I have suffered from depression for over 25 years. I was recently diagnosed with MS and have had this condition for ??? Depression is a symptom of MS.

      Treatments

      Effexor Working / Worked
Fantastic! Don't know what I would do without it. Went from Zoloft to Paxil to Effexor. Paxil started harming my liver. Effexor is a life-saver!
      Paxil Working / Worked
I take a tiny dose along with effexor since Paxil started doing damage to my liver. The combo. I take works extremely well.
      Xanax Working / Worked
I take just a tiny dosage. I have a high anxiety level and the small dose takes the edge off.
      Support Groups Working / Worked
Talking with others who share similar experiences is comforting as well as reaffirming.
    • Open Conduct Disorder

We adopted a special needs child at the age of 2. He was diagnosed with Reactive Attachment Disorder, which is an umbrella of sorts for ODD, ADHD, mood disorder, learning disabilities, and now the 'fringe' of a conduct disorder. Now that he is 16, my husband and I are definitely challenged as parents.

      Treatments

      Zoloft Somewhat Helpful
    • Open COPD & Emphysema

I have been tentatively diagnosed with COPD, having had lung/sinus infections since 10/07.

      Treatments

      Albuterol Somewhat Helpful
I don't like this drug as it hypes me up. I think it does help a little though.
      Pulmicort Somewhat Helpful
I just know this has a steroid in it and that I have to really rinse my mouth and gargle to avoid yeast infections. I'm uncertain if it works; I use it right after the albuterol
      Prednisone Working / Worked
Makes breathing a bit easier. Seems to work less and less the more I have to take it. Hate the side effects as I taper off.
      Menthol (Topical) Working / Worked
I have loved this since I was very young. It really helps stuffy noses! I also rub in on the soles of my feet and put soft fuzzy socks on. It seems to help curtail coughing somewhat. At any rate it is a comfort medicine more than anything else.
