What does marriage mean anymore?

Does it mean you love for ten years

Does it mean you love for twelve

Does it mean you stay for late nights up with the kids

But you give up when it's hell

Does it mean you'll be there always

Or until you want to run

Does it mean you are the best of friends

or only when it's fun

Does it mean you run away from things

that seem like they're too tough

Does it mean you leave each other

when the road starts getting rough

Does it mean the vows you've taken

aren't worth the cost of rings

Does it mean the circle can be broken

by the littlest of things

Does it mean you look to others

when you're feeling down and low

Does it mean you need a new someone

to let your feelings show

Does it mean you really can't depend

on anyone but you

Does it guarantee a broken heart

when one spouse says  we're through

How many times have you loved

How many tears have you cried

How many times have you begged

for them to open up their eyes

Marriage is a sacred thing

between you two and the Lord

and even when the cold world

leaves you all alone and bored

You always have the one you love

to help you find a way to stay 

but the only sure thing I have found

is to let God show the way.
