I know I haven't been on this site in awhile.....so can someone
fill me in on the abcense of MisterSticker?
I finally went for my bloodwork and got my results.....after weeks of avoiding bread, pasta,
baked goods, and sweet sugary drinks my A1c was 6.9!
WTF! I was POSITIVE it would
be below 5!
I truly don't know what else I can do. ......Well, thats really not true....I could add some
exercise to the mix. I'm just such a couch potato that it's HARD to get motivated. Add also
the fact that I stand on my feet at work for 8 hours at a time and, quite frankly, it's nice to
just sit on the 'ole bum when I'm home.
So....Doc gave me some Metformin; this in addition to the Glyburide I'm on.
<Sigh> I've a horrible feeling that this is going to become a major issue in my old age.
Thanks Mom...the only genes I seemed to get from you!
For about the last 8-10 weeks, I've drastically reduced my intake of bread and other starches, and I've bumped up the amount of fruit and protein I eat. I've tried alternative foods, such
as soy noodles (not bad, but I don't care for the rubbery texture). I've embraced various sugar-free products like Russell-Stover's Sugar Free Chocolates (which I don't think I could survive without now), sugar-free Jello pudding, and Glucerna meal/snack shakes. You would think the weight would start to come off by now.
Well...you'd be wrong. I haven't lost a single ounce. Granted, the goal was to lower my bs...
but you'd think I'd manage to lose a lb. or two in the process.
I'm kinda bummed out about it.
