I'm still out here. Just a bit of trouble physically. I have been diagnosed with lupus. Painful, but supposedly treatable.
I still don't know what to think about this. My doctor has told me that my muscles are weakening, my lungs are diseased, my kidneys have quit working twice in the last month. The first line of treatment is steroids (which I can't take). The next treatment is anti-rejection meds.
I would have to be in the hospital for this, and the closest treatment center is hundreds of miles away. I'm not sure what to do, but I hate hospitals.

I understand about the hospitals. It's ok to work here...but I don't want to be a patient in the best of them. Maybe the Hilton...but not the Hospital.

So good to hear from you. I'm sorry to hear about the lupus, and the treatment challenges. There must be some way for a local doc to oversee the administration of the anti-rejection meds. The hospital could ship them to a local med center or doc office and they could treat you. Otherwise, there may be a non-profit that would help get you to the center and bring you home (might try Lupus Foundation of America (1-800-558-0121 information request line). Hospitals are tough, but you gotta do what you gotta do. Please take care of yourself. You seem like a strong person -- after all you've already been through a lot and kept on going. I think you'll come through for yourself again. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
