I decided to brighten someone else's day today. One of my good friends turned 54 today, so I took her out for dinner and a movie.
She just got a Wii for her birthday, so we played a couple of games of bowling. That game gets painful after the first hour, but we had to keep playing until she won a game.
We had Mexican food for dinner and went to see Indiana Jones - not like it used to be (if you're old enough to remember.
She enjoyed her evening and it helped to make me feel better too. Put a little sunshine in someone else's eyes and it really comes back to you. Nice to end the night on a good note.

I'm still out here. Just a bit of trouble physically. I have been diagnosed with lupus. Painful, but supposedly treatable.
I still don't know what to think about this. My doctor has told me that my muscles are weakening, my lungs are diseased, my kidneys have quit working twice in the last month. The first line of treatment is steroids (which I can't take). The next treatment is anti-rejection meds.
I would have to be in the hospital for this, and the closest treatment center is hundreds of miles away. I'm not sure what to do, but I hate hospitals.

So good to hear from you. I'm sorry to hear about the lupus, and the treatment challenges. There must be some way for a local doc to oversee the administration of the anti-rejection meds. The hospital could ship them to a local med center or doc office and they could treat you. Otherwise, there may be a non-profit that would help get you to the center and bring you home (might try Lupus Foundation of America (1-800-558-0121 information request line). Hospitals are tough, but you gotta do what you gotta do. Please take care of yourself. You seem like a strong person -- after all you've already been through a lot and kept on going. I think you'll come through for yourself again. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
I have found that emotional and physical pain are just too much for me to endure. I wish all of my friends well, and I would like to thank all of you for your help and understanding.

Sounds to me like Rebecca needed a "girls night out", too. Tells ya that life is worth living, doesn't it?

That sounds like so much fun! I've been very curious to try a Wii. Glad you got to! Haven't seen the new Indiana yet, but plan to. Never as good as the original, are they? And, oh yea, I'm old enough. :-) You're right about cheering someone else up coming back around. Thanks for sharing this.

I am glad you had some good times with your friend. I remember the old Indiana Jones movies and I agree with you that it isn't like it used to be at all!
