The Road Trip

Someone on the MS forum wrote about getting away from it all. I suggested she meet me in Seattle and we'll drive to the Arctic Circle for Summer solstice. God I'd like some major windshield time. The trip is around 2k miles each way. 14 hours of drive time each day. You wake up, load the car, eat some breakfast, and drive. Then you get a room, crash, and do it all over again.
I miss being able to drive. If my buddy Matt turns up again, I'd foot the bill for a trip. Drive to DC through Canada. That should eat up 3 weeks. Store all my shit and go. My family would flip- I've got MS. But if I call them every day and keep them posted, it might be cool.
The great part of being sober is that I can set off for a destination and know I can get there sober. All I have to do is remember that I'm a drunk, pray, and hit the meetings along the way. Being an out-of-town-er at an AA meeting rocks. People are great.
I have no new troubles or joys in my life. It's just life. Sometimes it seems like life happens to me, which isn't true. It just happens.
My new computer gadget is way cool. There are some kinks to this thing- it's a network attached storage device (NAS). But worth the time and trouble. There's enough learning curve to keep me challenged for a while.
And I'm not going to call my sponsor. Well, maybe. Probably.
