Journal Entry for January 24, 2008 Mood

Harmonious...that is the way that I would choose to describe this week. Matt is back at school, but only Mon-Wed-Fri. This time of year we all like to "nest", and Matt has taken charge of the family room. His unique touch can be found all throughout the room, working with things that we already have around the house. He has been an awesome big brother to his twin sisters, taking charge with them, and encouraging them toward some more independent behavior. They gravitate to him, and enjoy spending time with him. I hope that they will one day realize how lucky that they are to have him. This brings me such great joy, as a parent, to see my children getting along so well together and enjoying each other. Isn't it what we all want, as parents, for our kids? I cannot articulate how dear to me this all is. My husband and I both came from such dysfunctional families, and I was terrified when I found out that I was pregnant....the last thing that I wanted to become was my Mother.I will certainly never say that I am going to be "Mother of the Year", but I embrace the happiness that our home has been seeming to radiate these days.

It feels good to feel optimistic again...my support group is awesome. My husband is a man to admire and to look up to. No matter what happens, or life throws him, he just digs his feet in a little deeper and works harder. He and my son are my inspiration. My girls, on the other hand, lol, are my challenge in life. They are ten....with a vengeance....they are funny, comical, smart, and....injected with the PMS gene at birth.[aren't all girls?]

Life is always a challenge, but when there are days like this one I embrace them and they are a treasure. Nothing in this world is perfect, but these past few days have been darned close! Smile
