AngeGirl2007's Profile

Feeling: Good  - Good
Gender: Female
Age: 38
Location: Petoskey, MI
Interests:
I am a voracious reader. I love anything by Mitch Albom, Frank Peretti, Stephen King, Leo Buscaglia, Barbara Johnson, and Joyce Meyer. Granted, since I've had my childern reading books with actual words is a rare pleasure but, I do it every chance I get. I also love music of all kinds, though I'm pretty much into the stuff of my day i.e. the 70's 80's, and early 90's (yeah, I'm kinda old school) and I'm actually into some forms of country. I think that's what happens as you get older. You start listening to country music, you give up coffee and switch to tea (haven't made it that far yet), the word "regular" takes on a whole new meaning, and getting a little action means your prune juice is working! I also love writing...stories, poetry...letters...just writing in general. My kids and I play games together, board games and the like. We like to watch movies together and my two youngest like to run after and tickle me. My oldest has Asperger's Syndrome (an autism-related disorder) and my second oldest has autism so I'm passionate about autism research and learning all I can for them. When I love, I love passionately and deeply. The people who are closest to me know this.
About Me:
I am a divorced single mother who works parttime, is currently looking for another job, and loves her children passionately. The two oldest are on the autistic spectrum which adds to the passion, devotion, sometimes frustration but I wouldn't trade them or what they've taught me for anything.

Thanks for telling me how beautiful he is. It took me a long time to get those developed. Now I show them to everyone. I just want to say to them, "See he was real, he was beautiful, he was mine." I had a mc in mar 07 also. I was only 8wks. I understand what you mean about the heartbeat. I never saw a sono either. I think it made it somewhat easier.

 Miscarriage
I found out before Thanksgiving 2007 that I was pregnant. On December 18 I went for my initial prenatal visit/ultrasound. There was no heartbeat and the baby was very tiny. That same day I went for bloodwork and was supposed to go for more two days later. Instead, two days later I started spotting. I called the clinic and asked about going in. I was told I was miscarrying and that coming in was not necessary. The next morning I lost my baby in my shower.
Treatments
 Ibuprofen (Working / Worked)
The ibuprofen helped my physical pain but the emotional pain is still there. My physical strength is gradually coming back but I am so exhausted and all I want to do is sleep. The tears, though they don't fall like they did, are still there. I keep them in for the sake of my other children.
 Writing (Working / Worked)
Writing has really helped me sort through the myriad of feelings and emotions that have tangled themselves around me. Anymore verbal expression is difficult. Writing has always been my true voice.
 Lexapro (Working / Worked)
Lexapro hasn't taken away the grief or the pain of losing ANgel but it has helped me to get on more of an even keel where every day life isn't is difficult to deal with.
 Music (Working / Worked)
Music kinda ties in with the writing. It's the tearsw of my souls put to melody.

 Prayer (Working / Worked)
I've been a Christian for nearly 33 years and I'm finally learning what it means to really pray.
 Talking (Somewhat Helpful)
Over the years I've become selective about who I open up to and losing Angel has only confirmed this way of dealing.
Support from Friends & Family (Somewhat Helpful)
Obviously not everyone, includin g family or friends, is going to empathize unless they themselves have walked in your shoes. Fortunately, I have people in my life that have walked this road and they are there when I need them, which is always a blessing.

 Autism / Autism Spectrum
I have five children--four of which are living--with my two oldest being on the autistic spectrum. Matthew--my 12-year-old was diagnosed as nonverbal/autistic at the age of 4 1/2. Jordan--my 13-year-old was diagnosed with Asperger's at the age of 8.
Treatments
Independent Living Skills (Working / Worked)
Matthew goes out of his way to keep himself busy and help around the house. He'll take dirty dishes to the sink, fill your coffee cup (so you'd better want some), pick his clothes out for school the night before. He's progressed so much in this area.
Picture / Word Schedules (Working / Worked)
Matthew's a visual learner and the visual schedule has really helped to keep a sens eof order, which is something I'm still learning to do.
 Sign Language (Working / Worked)
Matthew was nonverbal up until two years ago. Along with PECS, he used sign language as a means of communication and he picked it up very quickly. I've tried using it but I can't get a finger in edge wise. haha.

My 13-year-old son was diagnosed with Asperger's when he was eight. He also has a brother, age 12, who is autistic.
