Seven Deadly Sins: GREED

Greed is, like lust and gluttony, a sin of excess. However, greed (as seen by the church) is applied to the acquisition of wealth in particular. St. Thomas Aquinas wrote that greed was "a sin against God, just as all mortal sins, in as much as man condemns things eternal for the sake of temporal things."

In today's modern world money is at the center of a lot of peoples' lives... This is sad since if you think about it....it's only a piece of paper. It's the meaning behind it...the power it gives you. But if we all just kept what we needed to be comfortable and helped others (the less fortunate) then wouldn't that make the world so much better...
Greed is a an emotion stemming from false beliefs. Material things will not make you happy. I mean sure maybe for like a couple of minutes but not the kind of happy that you need. Material things will only cover the surface. On the inside you will always feel empty and there is no way any material possession can ever fill that hole...
It just pains me to see that people will bend over and pick up a dollar bill but not toss a dollar bill in the direction where it is actually needed...
I try try try not to be greedy. But let's be honest, who doesn't want more money? I think the main thing is to remember that putting our focus on material things and money takes our focus from the one thing that matters, the focus being on God.
