Seven deadly sins: LUST
Current mood: contemplative
Category: Religion and Philosophy Lust (or lechery) is usually thought of as involving obsessive or excessive thoughts or desires of a sexual nature. Unfulfilled lusts sometimes lead to sexual or sociological compulsions and/or transgressions including (but obviously not limited to) sexual addiction, adultery, bestiality, rape, and incest . Dante's criterion was "excessive love of others," which therefore rendered love and devotion to God as secondary. In "Purgatorio", the penitent walks within flames to purge himself of lustful/sexual thoughts and feelings.
Lust. Wow one we are all guilty of. That hot pic in a magazine. That person walking by. Humans by nature are sexual beings. If we were not then our race would die off. Our need to procreate drives our existence. But how much is too much? Humans like to bite off more than we can chew...Why can't we be happy with just the minimum? Desiring more only leads to complication, which in turn completely depletes the feeling of satisfaction one gets having fufilled the desire that was longed for in the first place. One who thinks in a sexual nature ALL the time misses the true meanings behind things. Perhaps God is trying to show you something beneath the surface...with lust being a completely superficial veil that lesson will not be learned.
Though it is a common misconception that men think about sex more than women, this should not be believed. For we both are human and we both sin. The double standard our society has placed on gender roles, where the man tells a dirty joke and all of his friends think it is hilarious even when it can be totally degrading to the woman across from him, is absolutely ridiculous. These are standards our society has imprinted in our minds. But we often forget the standards that actually matter. God's standards, moral standards that help us look beneath the surface of things and truly realize the purpose of existence. Standards that not only help us see clearly but just help us be a better human being.

Interesting... I am so not in the "normal" place with most things, I guess though I'm a faithful partner (even though I hardly ever get sex). Further, I think God understands! She made us afterall... xoxoxo Cj (Joeyrose, you are a very deep person... Love ya!)
