So the service dog organization has told me that Hope is an adorable little girl and that I need to find her another home. They say they will not place a service dog in a home with a puppy. It would be too much of a distraction for their dog.Hope is not going anywhere. If it comes to that, then I just won't have a service dog.I refuse to put her through being uprooted now that she's finally learning to trust again.I think there are no bad dogs...just bad owners.I also think giving her away now could turn her into a very bad dog.
We've raised $7,000 so far for my service dog. They say it costs $21,000 to train and place one dog.My dog was to be placed in September,or would have been placed then.Would I give up the chance to have one just for a little mixed breed dog who has had a lousy time of it so far?If it comes to that yes.I'm building my case.
!.Hope is 8 months old which means she'll be 10 months in September. In November she will no longer be a puppy.
2.If their dog is trained she should not be a distraction.
3.She has a crate to allow for one on one time with him.
4.They never said having another dog was a problem when I had Quazar.
5.All these people have donated for my dog and should have their money refunded if the organization doesn't place one.
Hush, Lesa...Hope is very smart and may need to learn to be my service dog.She loves to fetch and pull on ropes. She could pick up things for me and use the ropes to open drawers and cabinets just like the dog they brought to meet me.He was easily distracted and Hope wasn't here yet.Housebreaking has been a breeze for her.She was sent to me.I really believe that.Digging in and ready to fight and lose if need be.I'm not losing her though.
Going to see my neurologist again tomorrow.I have to tell him I'm not taking his imuran anymore.Would love to get something that helped more with my pain.Might need something for my nerves at this rate!LOL!Let me at 'em!I feel good and am ready for this.
Have someone interested in buying Aunt Evelyn's house. The bed hasn't been made since the last night she slept there before going to the hospital. That's my Wednesday! It's going to be a busy week. This person is coming Wed afternoon. We're boxing up stuff all day.Hoping I'll stay strong.I am HOPEFUL and plan on staying that way!

You are such an awesome person to care so much for Hope. I knew I liked you, but now I know I like you more. Hope came to you for a reason. You were her angel. Bless your golden heart. Hugs, Vicki

I am with you on this... sometimes we have to go down the path that is laid in front of us... even when other people may think it is not a rational route for us to choose. We cannot know why things happen the way they do sometimes. So we just need to take a deep breath, muster our courage and march on forward... with faith that the universe is guiding us to the right destination for us. I am sending you a ton of positive energy... and the hope that this all works out the way it is meant to. Take care my friend... Gaye xxx
GTK
Yup. Your case is good...wait til November if you can't have a puppy...you won't have one then...AND they didn't say another dog was a problem so there shouldn't be a problem. So there!
The imuran sure seems to make your quality of life lessen...I don't know all the good it does, of course, but I know when you are on it you are not as much Lesa as we all know and love...it makes me sad for you to have to struggle so. :( Good luck with the neuro.
Sending lots of strong thoughts to help you through Aunt E's stuff. Many hugs too.

We may have to start a letter writing campagne about service dog protocols!! If it would ever help, just let us know, & give us their address; they'ed be overwhelmed by the numbers we could land in their mail box in short order.
carolmj
I agree with carolmj. If letter writing campaign would help, I know we wold flood their mailboxes for you. You are right about Hope not being a puppy by the time your service dog would be placed. Yo have a very good point-Quazar was not an issue and neither should Hope be an issue. You have enough love for both dogs with lots to spare! Good luck with this problem. You don't deserve all this crap! Love, Carol
Grease
Amen!! Im with you. Tell who and where to send the letter. My aunt had a service dog and she lived on a farm. Talk about distractions. Something doesnt sound quite right in whoville if you know I mean, Cindy Lou!!!! LOL!! Stay strong, don't get overstressed and you and Hope will be just fine.
angelndisguise
Definetly on your side Lesa.
All your 5 points are extremely valid.
Service dogs are meant to fit in to all types of lifestyles and like you said they knew about Quazar. She will be calmer by then anyway as she gets more and more used to her surroundings and the people in it.
Sounds odd to me. It's not like she is a puppy puppy...like one mth old. Hmmm I think some pressure can help them see the error of their ways. I'm here if you need me.

You made me cry Lesa.A service dog is so important to you.Hope has been your best buddy since Quazar died.QUALITY of life is WHY you had a service dog.Hope makes you smile,is really SMART-isn't that CONTRIBUTING to your quality of life?SHe's a little angel-dog.Maybe the service dog people would help you train Hope-that might be a solution? Is there someone higher in the organization you can talk to? SOunds like you may be talking to an uninformed grouch @ the service dog place. You & Hope are in my prayers. On Wed,you'll be in my thoughts & prayers extra strong.I'll write letters for you anytime! Lesa I think that is so good of you not to give up your dog Hope. And I dont see why there would be a problem with you having both.Great idea about training Hope to be your service dog.!
Good luck and sending you strength with your talk with your nerouologist.you and Hope take care of each other. You two were meant to be..........hugs
jannis
I am right behind you too Lesa! You have a very good case... especially the part that if the service dog is trained, a puppy or any other dog should not be a distraction. A service dog is going to come across other animals from time to time. So stick to your guns. I think you should be able to have both the service dog and Hope as your pet. Good luck at the neuro's! Stay strong Love~Debbie

It is you choice and being a friend means praying for you both and I too believe she was sent. Trust me and God it will work out. Like you said, Hope will be more confident and older in September. 'Q' would never want you to give up on her...Russ says Quazar sent Hope to you....he really believes that.
bigouie
Keep Hope and send the others packing;)

Good for Lesa Little Hope needs you and as Ive told you that little one just didnt appear in your life for no reason Quazar had something to do with that he knew you would be lonely so he sent you this little one to help you through all this pain you was feeling .Hope is your gift from Quazar
BossyMom
Oh my Lesa, I am sending special prayers for you. You are such a wonderful person. I believe Hope was sent to you. She found you and you both need each other. I will pray that you get what you need with the service dog.

I haven't talked to you for a few days. Boy you are one determined lady. Hurray for you.
And hurray they took Med. power of Atty. away from my sister-in-law. Gave to the son & daughter. I can't remember if I told you or not. She was getting in his pain pills & stopped Cathing him when he needed it. Anyway Home health nurse blew her stack. He has another infection.
Good luck with Hope. It sounds like you were meant for each other.
Hugs & prayers, Judy

You hang in there Lesa. I do believe that Hope could be trained to be your service dog. Why not???? She is smart and is a fast learner. Let me know if you need a letter. I will be happy to write one. What would they do if you had a roommate with a dog??? That person sounds like they had no idea what he/she was talking about. Service dogs are supposed to be able to function in all types of situations. You stand your ground and I will be praying about it.
Love you,
Rhonda

I swear that big horse-dog angel sent Hope to you, and there is no reason in the world why you can't teach her to do the things a service dog would do. Antoher advantage to training her, is that she is yours. You can love her, treat her like a pet, and probably teach her things that the service dog trainers might not even think of. Strays/abused and rescued, what have you pets are the very best. I have horses I bought off of kill lots that turned out to be better than the purebreds I paid big bucks for. And alot is always said about hybrid intelligence. Hope will not be distracted from working for you, as your friend, and not a "hired hand" so to speak, because she will learn out of love. Good for you for standing up for your four legged friend. I am sorry you seem to be getting some of the same agency idiocy that I have to deal with all the time. I oftwn think that people get into social work of any kind not to help, but to feel like demigods, in charge of innocent live, with which they toy, at will, just for their own amusement.

Deep breathing, luv. Deep breathing. Listen, take your time. Yes, maybe HOPE could be your care dog. Also, check with Rehab Services to see if they will cover costs. Hugs & love

Hope and you belong together. It seems that God put you together for a reason. Oh, no i have to go, my battery is dead. Take care.

I think it will help you the most to do what you feel is right and not necessarily what other folks think its right. The service dog organization knows plenty about their dogs, but you know more about you and what keeps you going. You've dealt with lots of physical trauma, yet the only time I've known you to be truly grieved is when your hurting emotionally. Hope is important to you; you need to feel you still have choices.
If you think letters will help, I'll write with the rest of 'em.

Big hugz to you ...yep Im with pcoon that Hope is meant to be with you..God,s blessing luvvles ..all the best with packing up etc.....
