had a full on day at the hospital. Started off when I rang there to confirm everything found that I should have been in there by 11 not 1pm so rang Jackie & she was able to pick me up earlier.
I had visual evoked potentials first. That is eye tests where they connect wires to the head & you watch the red square in a TV screen & a checker board of black & white squares keep changing. I had an eye patch over each eye in turn & had the tests done without glasses then with glasses & then with half screen. That took a while then I went over to the other side of the floor & saw the nurse there.
He set me up for the spinal tap & a Dr came in to do it. Her name was Susan too. She gave me a local anaesthetic & I could still feel everything so tried 2 more times. Next voice I heard said he was the registrar & he gave another local (4 in total) & then tried to do spinal tap. I could feel the pressure but he couldn't get through the bone so he did it in a different part of the back bone & he got it done.
I then laid on my back for about 30 mins & then the nurse tried to get blood, he tried twice & then got the Dr to try, took her 4 times to get blood from an artery on hand.
Needless to say repeated screams throughout both procedures & tears as well.
My back is painful, I have bruises from blood tests in 5 places & the pain from back is shooting up to neck & head. Thank goodness for pain killers. Somehow I don't think I will get to work & dinner tomorrow night.
Love Sue
Take it easy for the next couple of days until your system can get straightened out from the proceedure. Spinal taps can be no fun, I'm glad you are through with it. Take care of yourself, big HUGS to you!
