    • Journal Entry for January 2, 2008

      Mood January 2, 2008 8:23pm

I've decided to keep a food journal, and making it public might force me to avoid eating anything I'll be embarrassed to report.   So, …

    • Close Diets & Weight Maintenance

I was always thin when I was younger, but in the past few years I've gone from a job where I was on my feet 8 hours to sitting on my butt all day at a desk. :) I've put on a few pounds (about 15) and I want to make some changes before things get out of hand. I'd like to lose about 5 pounds, but my main goal is to be less "jiggly" and have more energy.

      Treatments

      Counting Calories Somewhat Helpful
I've just started this, but it's helping me be more aware of what I'm putting in my body instead of just shoveling it in.
Eat Less Too Soon to Tell
This goes along with the food diary. If i have to write down the portion size, i stick to the actual suggested serving size more often.
      Herbalife Somewhat Helpful
Had lots of energy and felt great, but didn't lose any weight.
      Physical Exercise Not Working
I've never kept it up long enough to see results. That's going to change this year. I'm aiming for 2 hours a week to start, so that's 10 minutes in the morning and 15 in the evening on weekdays only. We'll see how it goes.
      Slim-Fast Too Soon to Tell
I do Slim-Fast shakes about 4 times a week, so I'm not real consistent with it. It's not something I;d want to do for the rest of my life anyway, but it's good if you can't stop to eat.
    • Close Pre-menstrual Syndrome (PMS)

I had really horrible PMS symptoms when I was very young(cramps with vomiting, optical migraine, severe mood swings, sleep problems, etc.), so I was put on birth control when I was 15 to control the symptoms.

      Treatments

      Midol Somewhat Helpful
Doesn't relieve pain as well as Aleve.
      Naproxen Working / Worked
Aleve works the best of any pain reliever.
      Oral Contraceptives Somewhat Helpful
Ortho-TriCylen worked for a while, then the symptoms started comeing back, so I switched to Ortho Cyclen, then to Desogyn. I'm now on Reclipsen, and still adjusting. I know they're supposed to work the same, but it seems like every time I switch brands there's an adjustment period.
    • Open Stress Management

I very rarely "feel" stressed, but I have a plethora of nervous habits (nail-biting, cheek and lip chewing, snacking, shopping, spacing out) that seem to appear just when my normal routine gets disrupted. I'm looking for ways to get in touch with my stress (that sounds stupid! But I really don't even realize I'm stressed until I have bandaids on every finger from chewing them down to nothing!) and manage it in a healthy way

      Treatments

      Music Not Working
This is one way i try to cope, but it usually causes me to space out, lose track of time, and end up more stressed.
      Patience Not Working
Yeah, this one's a challenge for me. I'm not typically a patient person.
