avonex and me did not quite get along...I would take it friday night, and the "flu like symptoms" yeah ummm they wiped me out till Sunday! It took my body just so long to recover from the injection. I would cry over how bad it made me feel. My fever would get really high and I was shaking, the chills you name it...basically its like the worst flu you've ever had But you have it every week...! I do know that some people tolerate it much much better than I did, so I hope it works out for you. Provigil has some weird side effects so i would do reasearch on that too. hope everything works out for you! :)

Avonex could really work for your active lifestyle since you only have to do it once a week. You may feel crappy the next day for a while as your body adjusts to it, so build yourself up to full dosage. Another trick that really worked like a charm was to make sure you are hydrated at injection time. It makes the flu-like symptoms less severe.

I was on Avonex for one year, took it fri night and would have fever, chills, night sweats, and throbbing pain all over my body for about 24 hours, it would take me till Sunday night to recooperate. Got sick of giving up my weekends so then I went on Copaxone for a year, no flu like symptoms but incision site was large red painful lumps and ran out of places to poke my self everyday and be able to cover them. So I am going back to the doc and probably try something else. Good luck and just be careful till you know how you react to your shots.

Some weeks are better than others for me w/avonex. I agree with joanne that being well hydrated really helps.
Neurontin relly helpswith the pain/spacisity for me. It was a huge relief for me! I've never been on Provigil (is that for fatigue?) I might try b/c my energy level is low and I have heard good things about it.
