I was diagnosed with Graves disease in December 2006. My thyroid levels are normal on PTU but my eyes keep bulging and are "severe." I'm facing possible surgery on my thyroid and eyes.

Close Graves' Disease
I was diagnosed with Graves' in 12/06. I also have bulging eyes that I'm seeing 3 different docs for. It's been very emotional at times but God is seeing me through.
Treatments
- PTU Not Working
- Working for making thyroid levels normal but eyes still continue to bulge and are "severe."
- Methimazole Too Soon to Tell
- trial to see if liver enzymes will come down on this. if not then have to have thyroidectomy. :(
- Prayer Working / Worked

- Last year I lost 15 pounds in 3 months by hiking once a week, watching what I ate (but killing myself) and I think I did a few other workouts too.
Open Diets & Weight Maintenance
I have prediabetes and my MD says the BEST thing for that is weight loss. The hardest thing for me though is to resist sweets. I'd love to make some friends for support in not eating sweets and to lose weight. :)

- I lost 10 pounds in a month watching portion sizes, a limited calorie diet, like 1800 or something.

Open Diabetes Type 2
I have pre-diabetes, tried meds for a while but didn't have good follow-up so now I'm on nothing. MD says weight loss is better than any med. VERY hard to lose weight though. Trying to journal for cravings, etc. :)

- Took this for a year then had poor follow-up (my bad). Not taking it anymore.
Open Dry Eyes
Dry eyes which actually causes them to water a LOT. Wake up in the morning with them dry then they water all day, a few times quite profusely. Ha, I think some people at church thought I was crying during the service one time. :D
Treatments
- Fish Oil Working / Worked
- I took a fish oil cap 2-3x/day for 4 days before wearing my contacts and had no problems wearing them, formerly they caused horribly red eyes and irritation/pain.
- Fish Oil Working / Worked
- one of my eye MD's said no more contacts due to severe irritation/redness. fish oil helped as recommended by my other eye MD. i can wear contacts now without any irritation. my eyes water still.
Open Abstinence & Celibacy
I'm a virgin but it's hard to wait! I'm not perfect though, have done some things I regretted, but am waiting until marriage to have sex.
Treatments
- Prayer Somewhat Helpful
- prayer helps a lot but of course desire is natural and doesn't go away, it's God-given. I just try to pour out my heart to God, write my thoughts down, and it helps alot
- Writing Somewhat Helpful
- journaling my thoughts out to God or to my "future husband" helps calm the fire some. :) Telling God helps cause He understands, He made us with these desires!
Open Female Sexual Issues
I am a virgin but have had struggles in this area. I have a desire to encourage anyone in any way and had an idea for someone that I want to share.
Open Goiter
My neck is slightly swollen so I technically have a goiter I guess, but most don't notice it, thankfully. I have Graves' disease.
Treatments
- Keeping Busy Working / Worked
- It's not very noticeable but I try not to think about it or worry about it. I'm hoping med will take care of it. I have bigger things to think about.
