So I talked to my dad today on the phone, I mentioned the ex uncle's failed suicide attempt, dad zero'd in on my disdain for this man. Saying I should let it go. I said I don't dwell on it, but when it comes up I don't wish this wife beater any good will. This man used my aunt as a punching bag and was never ever sorry for his behavior.
My dad's (also an abuser) reaction?? Well if a woman is going to be abused then she deserves it, nobody can stop it but her. She no doubt doesn't think much of herself and must want to be punished so she deserves what she gets.
Anybody out there hearing what is being said here? I sure hope so.
My father still claims to be a victim of my mother who he cheated on for over twenty years, if only she was happier, didn't shop, didn't complain....
Sooo glad to be physically away from these people, it is God's grace working in my life for certain.

I'm so sorry. My dad used to say that if a woman is raped then she must have done something to ask for it. My dad also never took responsibility for any decision he ever made. It was always "your mother this..." and "your mother that..." I wanted to think it was there generation, but my ex is the same way (altho a little more subtle). Do you suppose it's in their genes?
