Ok, so I don't know if this has hit national news, I kind of doubt that it has because unfortunately child abuse cases are all too common in our society. We had a case here in Vegas where a parent left her developementally delayed four year old in his car seat for... get this... 17 hours. Of course with it being 110 degrees here and all the windows were closed, he died. How in the hell can you leave your four year old in a car for 17 freakin hours and not notice him missing?
Here is what the parent had to say...
She told one of her kids to get him out of the car and never checked to make sure it was done. The kid claims to not have heard her.
She did not look for him but asked her kids, which they replied, that the did not know where he was.
“When I looked, I didn’t find him either. So I don’t know why it slipped my mind, I just went and took dinner to my husband." Said by Mom.
She didn’t instruct any of her children to take care of Jason.
I really don’t know why I wasn’t more attentive to Jason. I just don’t know. -Mom
She had forgotten Jason in the car when he was 6 months old.
She left other children in a playpen (age 1) and didn’t notice them missing until she was at church and they weren‘t with her.
After finding the boy in the car, 17 hours later, the called 311 (no emergency #) not 911
The house was littered with animal feces, rotten food, and other stuff but the parents bedroom was clean, had a stocked fridge and a microwave.
CPS has been called on this family 23 times for neglect, filthy home condition, sexual abuse, physical abuse, emotional abuse, domestic violence
The father claimed in his report that he was not “on watch” of Jason that day.
There is so much more as the arrest warrant is almost 50 pages. Both parents are being charged with 2nd degree murder, and a variety of child neglect charges against all the children but... how do you NOT know where your four year is? I don't get it. And I don't get it why this family gets 7 kids, YES, 7 kids and I can't seem to have one.... Ugghh!! I feel so bad for those kids... they were all beaten and under fed and who knows what else. Very sad and upsetting.
Just needed to vent about it as it has been on our news for days.

I am with you. Why do they get to have those kids and then the kids have to suffer. I was shocked that she could not notice her 4 year old missing for 17 hours and even more shocked by her comment that she noticed he wasn't around and the thought slipped her mind to find him. Pardon the expression...but WTF? Someone should let her sit in the car for 17 hours.

I really hate those stories, they make me so mad. It feels so unfair that people like that can easily have all the chilren they want, yet good people like us struggle so much for 1!

People like that disgust me!! It breaks my heart for so many reasons to hear things like that happen. Sickening to say the least!!!

This is the second story like this that I have heard today (6-27-08)!!! The other is of a couple in foster care who was caring for a little girl. Her bio mom was pregnant again, and for whatever reason, got the little girl back. The foster parents were very upset about it, but what can you do? Anyway, the bio mom had the baby, and then left both the baby and the little girl (who is 3) in the car. The baby died, and the little girl is in the ICU at a hospital in Virginia. It makes me litterally sick to know that people like those in BOTH these stories can have babies, and even be the cause of their deaths, and yet those like us who would love and adore our babies can't seem to have even one!!! I don't understand it, and it is heartbreaking!!!
On a side note, the foster parents were apparently driving to that hospital today. (I'm not quite sure where they live)

These stories make me so mad and upset. I feel so bad for the children and I wonder why people who could care less are given children and others like us who would do ANYTHING to have a child struggle with even getting pg.

It really makes me sick hearing stories like this. I hear them and I sit an cry and ask my husband why us and not them. Theres really no answer. It just makes me so sick.
