hey i just re-read your community information and it's very close to home with me. i also just started methotrexate last saturday. did your hair fall out when you started it? or did the folic acid help a lot?? also have you changed your eating habits??

Close Lupus
About three years ago at the end of my freshman year of high school when I was 15 I was diagnosed with RA and possible Lupus. Today my doctors still believe I will get lupus when I am older, but they are hoping I will only like with the symptoms. I live with fear and hope at the same time everyday, wondering when the day will come they will give me a true diagnoses.

Close Rheumatoid Arthritis
I was diagnosed in June of '05 with RA. It has been a long and hard road. Between doctors, on and off medicines, tests galore, and even more problems on top of that, it has been a roller coaster. Today, My RA is still yet to be under control. I suffer from very bad swollen joints in my hands. It also affects my knees, ankles, hips, shoulder and toes as well. God only knows where it will hit next. Though I feel my treatment now is not working I hope to be put back on Plaquenil soon.
Treatments
- Folic Acid Working / Worked
- This is the only medicine I cheat with. But I hope to soon get on track again with all of my meds.
- Methotrexate Somewhat Helpful
- I've been on it for almost a year now, but I feel that only the pain meds I use for my RA are helping the best and that I was better off on the Plaquenil.
- Mobic Working / Worked
- I take one pill daily for my pain with RA. It has worked wonders for me.
- Plaquenil Working / Worked
- It was working well, then my doctor took me off it putting me on methotrexate.
- Tylenol Working / Worked
- Only when Mobic is not enough.
Open Raynaud's Disease
Due to my RA and possible Lupus, my hands, when it is cold out, turn from their normal pink pale color to blue and purple. My doctor has always talked about it in front of me but has never told me face to face if I truly have it.
Open Insomnia
Haven't been able to sleep well since I was about 13. Most is due to joint pain and too many stray thoughts. My doctor told me it is genetic and that there isn't much I can do.
Treatments
- Counting Sheep Working / Worked
- I usually don't count sheep, I just count numbers. Gets my mind off everything and focuses me on the numbers. I'm always asleep by about 100 but sometime I get up to 200....haven't be over yet.
- Reading Somewhat Helpful
- Sometimes I read to just get me drowsy. But usually turning off the light and counting works faster.
Open Anemia
Type: Iron Deficiency AnemiaI got Anemia due to the medicine I take for my RA.
Treatments
- Iron Working / Worked
- I'm sure it works, but I never take it cause it makes me really sick to my stomach.
Open Medical Mysteries
I have been back and forth with my doctor over wither or not I have Lupus. They have finally diagnosed me with RA but have yet to give me a diagnoses with the rest of my symptoms. I'm still waiting for an answer.
