Hi Kim! It was so good to hear from you! You are in my thoughts sooo often. I feel so bad that you are having to deal with so much. I wish that you could get a break! Everyone's doing fine here.....just busy. The kids start back to school on Sept. 2....so like you said, things will be back on more of a schedule. I'm hoping to be able to get on the computer more. Take care. Sending lots of hugs & prayers your way! Love, Cheryl

We're still here - albeit a bit wet around the edges. The winds are still blowing pretty strongly. The rain and wind started pretty heavy yesterday morning and after several hours tapered off to intermittent rain and some winds. But around 3 p.m. the rain started up again and continued through the night. We finally lost power for the first time around 10 p.m.. Given FPL's record that was the biggest shock of the entire storm that it hadn't gone out sooner or more often. It was back on by midnight. The pond (now a lake) behind our house has gone up about 8 feet and is only about a foot or two from the screen enclosure. We're forecasted to get several more inches of rain and winds as high as 35mph over the next day or two. The front street is still flooded but not nearly as badly as yesterday. We live on a cul-de-sac and yesterday the water came up to the edge of our driveway. Now it's gone from the circle of the cul-de-sac and is only in the connecting street. We got socked by Wilma too and everyone claims by the time it got here it wasn't a hurricane but we say baloney. My husband stood for two hours pressing with all his strength to hold the front doors from blowing open. And that was in addition to having those burglar bars or whatever they are that lean against the door. Unfortunately we don't have shutters. The entire back of the house is french doors and between those and the other windows we have 58 windows. Some as high as 19' up and 12' across. The only shutter solution that would work for us is the accordian type that roll down and the cost would be about $40k or more. So we don't have shutters. We did get a big wet spot in the kitchen ceiling but since we have a two-story house and the upstairs is dry I suppose that means finding the leak will not be an easy nor inexpensive task. Someone asked me the other day if we would evacuate and I explained to them that unless you go all the way to Atlanta you can never be certain where to go. Think if people had bailed out of Tampa where it was projected to go in the first place. I heard from someone over there that they barely got any rain. Go figure.

Sending a hug your way. Did you get through the storm alright? It ended up going further south that anticipated so we ended up on the westside of the storm which gave us a little dribble. I hope all is well on your end. Have a good evening, Marge

Hi Kim - I did get thru my dad's euology without crying. I found this website before my Dad left but became so consumed with his illness and taking care of him I never used it. I love it now! There are more people like me out there and although my Dad is gone now I hope I can help somebody else just by listening. I guess that's what you're doing huh? Sharon/TX

Thank you for thinking of me. Fay doesnt' seem to be a big deal...just a little rain. It's a good thing because I did nothing to prepare.

Take your time and do not let anyone force you to end your mourning period before you are ready.

Hi Kimmie, don't feel bad for venting, venting helps alot. And it usually isn't just one thing that makes us go off the deep end, it's a build up. Please keep venting about anything. I've spoken to the doctor and he lowered her sinemet as of yesterday..so we shall see. Thanks Hon for the kind words, I'm just pretty mentally exhausted. I'm going tomorrow, wish me luck..and prayers might not be a bad idea as well....bless you dear friend, love to you and mom...xo Mel
