    • Close Bipolar Disorder

I have always had boundless energy followed by depression starting in my teenage years. I was gifted with disordered eating and still struggle with that issue. In 1992 (?) I was hospitalized for attempted suicide for the first time. Diagnosed BPD. In 2000, diagnosed Bipolar and have been treated in a way that has keep me more safe than before.

      Treatments

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Working / Worked
Still use many of the methods since being intoroduced to it in 1998. I only had 20 days of it though and would have liked to have had more.
      Geodon Working / Worked
What a gift of the gods! It is the base of my medicine cocktail and does wonders for stability and keeping me out of the hospital.
      Lamictal Working / Worked
Added low dosages to my current cocktail and seem to adjust it knowing that the dreaded skin rash is out there. I am at 400 mg and seem to be doing fine.
      Risperdal Not Working
I had not been on this long enough to see if it worked or not as I lactated (breast milk).
      Seroquel Somewhat Helpful
I was so messed up I can't really remember my experience except I survived on it. Changed from that to my current cocktail.
      Topamax Working / Worked
I was on a much higher dose than current for the treatment of bi-polar. The #1 side effect for me was stealing my words and #2 was hair loss. I am currently on a low dosage for migraines and have a little hair loss and some stealing of words but just read that Lamictal may be doing that.
      Wellbutrin Not Working
I tried this drug when I first started taking medicine in 1996-7 and it didn't do the job for me. But the increased libido was a wonderful side effect!
