Close Fibromyalgia
I am on SSD for Fibromyalgia. It affects every part of my life. It has been about 18 years since I was diagnosed. Things are much better than they were at first, as FMS is now being taught in Medical Schools. When I first presented symptoms, I was told it was being taught as Psychosomatic Rheumatism. So, although we've come a long way, we have a long way to go!!
Treatments
- Acupuncture Working / Worked
- It worked very well. Unfortunately, my insurance will not cover it.
- Cyclobenzaprine Working / Worked
- It does help to relax the tense muscles in my neck and back.
- Effexor Working / Worked
- It helped the depression. Still not sure how much it helped the pain.
- Elavil Not Working
- Didn't see a difference at all.
- Ultram Working / Worked
- Ultram didn't help much. Ultracet, on the other hand works for me as long as I take it on a regular basis. I do have to use a stool softener when using this med.
- Prolotherapy Working / Worked
- It took more time than I thought it would to work but it does work well for me. I happen to be very fortunate to have a doctor who has much experience with this procedure. Only side effects are a little soreness after injection and some slight discomfort during injection. Similar to the feeling of trigger point injections.
