Support Groups
Close Hepatitis C
I contacted Hep C during my active addiction days. I've had it for about 3 years now. Genotype 1a -> Stage 1, Grade 3. Decided not to start treatment since it's not absolutely necessary. Maintaining a positive attitude...
Close Depression
Type: Clinical (Major) DepressionI suffer from depression, drug addiction and alcoholism. I've been in treatment for about two years for depression and I've also been sober for 2 years. I have a history of self injury, also I had a suicide attempt when I was 19.
Treatments
- Positive Thinking Working / Worked
- Everything passes. Life is much better than in used to be.
- Prozac Working / Worked
- 60mg/day. Also take Risperidone. Works. Makes me feel tired though
- Support from Friends & Family Working / Worked
- AA in my case. Love and understanding from fellow AAs and family.
- Trazodone Working / Worked
- Helped me sleep when I first when into treatment.
Open Self-Injury
I started cutting as a teenager. I stopped for a while and then I started again in my 20s. I cut last time about 2 years ago. Still, it's the first thing that pops in my head when I'm sad, upset, depressed or mad. I just DON'T DO IT.
Treatments
- Tattoos Working / Worked
- But they are addictive... :) :)
Open Families & Friends Of Addicts
Dated an active heroin addict for a while. Drank and used with him. I managed to move on and sober up. Later, I got into a wonderful relationship with another sober alcoholic. We've been together for 2 years. The most wonderful man I have ever been with. Unfortunately, he recently relapsed after more than 2 years of sobriety. I am still sober and even though I love him very much, I am desperately trying to keep the focus where it belongs: on ME.
Treatments
Open Alcoholism
Alcoholic and drug addict. Sober a little over 2 years now, thanks to AA and my Higher Power
Treatments
- 12 Step Program Working / Worked
- AA Meetings Working / Worked
- Joining AA was the best thing I ever did for myself.
- Al-Anon Working / Worked
- I actually started in Al-Anon before I realized that I had a drug and alcohol problem. It taught me about my relationships with other addicts/alcoholics and how to take care of myself.
- Detox Working / Worked
- Being in a dual diagnosis unit definitely helped when I first got sober. Took me off the streets for a while. Now, it's a good 'remember when'. I don't ever want to go back there...
- Trazodone Working / Worked
- Helped me sleep when I was newly sober.
