This is my ham radio station. The computer screen is showing my log book program ...the picture is a constantly moving picture of where the 'grey line' [the terminator between light and darkness] and the sun are at any time of the day or night.
On the desk is the control head for my Icom 706 mk2g all band all mode radio which covers the entire radio spectrum. The lower radio on the shelf is a VHF radio for the 2 meter band and the upper radio is a dual band [covers 2 meters and 70 cm bands] as well as being modified to cover all the 'extended bands' used in MARS and CAP operations as well as allowing me to talk directly with any police agency in the 5 state region as well as the various Emergency Operations Centers. The 706 is likewise modified.
On the desk you can see the various hand micraphones for the radios as well as my Vibraplex Speedmaster key for sending MORSE CODE by hand.
I can split screen the computer [or use the other computer as well] to operate digital modes thru the 706 as well as acessing EchoLink which is a VoIP system developed and used only by ham operators world wide.
OH yes! I can and do, also talk with the guys on the International Space Station from my station! Pretty cool actually!!!!!
BTW, if you look at the screen you will see that the top line says that I have contacted Lebanon; which I did this afternoon! We had a nice chat for about 15 minutes or so...he reported my signal as arm chair copy, which is our way of saying that I sounded like I could have been sitting next to him there talking to him! Not too shabby for a guy from Kansas!
wow now that is something to see. how in the world did you ever learn morris code?? very interesting. your sure no dummy their. doing a great job.. keep it up.. Hugs Gail
