    • Hug

      From CharlesS January 29, 2007

Hi Lady: Seems you are a bit young to have osteo :) But guess anyone can have it. I have had it several years , having compression fractures, breaking toes , all from being steroid dependent. (Prednisone). I,also, can't take Fosamax but use a nasal spray along with 1500mg of elemental calcium per day. good luck charles

    • Close Restless Legs Syndrome

I remember having mild restless legs at around age 10. I am now 53 years old. About 8 months ago it worsened enough that I needed medication (Requip). This happened shortly after I started having back (disc) problems.

      Treatments

      Lexapro Working / Worked
I take this in the morning for nerves/anxiety to help with my back & foot pain as well as raynaud's.
      Ultram Working / Worked
I haven't been able to tolerate more than .25mg dosage of Requip at a time but taking the other 2 meds work well with the Requip.
    • Close Raynaud's Disease

I started having symptoms of Raynaud's about 30 years ago. I was in my early 20's. At that time my fingers would turn both white and purple. Now they only turn purple. I am now 53 years old. My Raynaud's is part of an autoimmune/connective tissue disease I have called CREST Syndrome. My doctor's are increasingly concerned as the circulation in my hands especially is bad. Left hand more than right. I have one sore that I've had for 3 years that still hasn't healed.

      Treatments

      Procardia XL Somewhat Helpful
I've been taking this for probably 15+ years. As my symptoms have worsened none of the meds help me alot.
      Plavix Somewhat Helpful
I've been taking Plavix for about 7 years.
      Aspirin Working / Worked
I've been taking this for 6 months. As with my other meds it has only been somewhat helpful.
    • Open Back Pain

In February of 2006 I started having bad pain in my left foot, leg and soemwhat in my lower back. After seeing many doctors and many tests laterr I was diagnosed with a disc problem. The pain is actually mostly in my foot and lower back now but not my leg. I am taking a pain medication as well as anti-anxiety meds and had a steroid shot in my lower back in September that helped a little and has been wearing off.

      Treatments

      Cortisone (Injection) Somewhat Helpful
This was an injection in my lower back that helped a little but is slowly wearing off.
      Tramadol Working / Worked
Taking one of these before bedtime along with a sleeping pill does help so I can get some sleep.
      Lexapro Working / Worked
This has helped soemwhat to calm my nerves thus lessen the pain in my foot and back a little. I also take it for general anxiety/raynaud's.
      Restoril Working / Worked
This is what I take at night with the Tramadol to help me sleep. It also works well with the Requip I take for Restless Legs.
    • Open Osteoporosis

I am 53 years old with a petite build and was diagnosed with osteoporosis in my hips and osteopenia in other areas.

      Treatments

      Evista Working / Worked
My specialist has me on Evista only for now until I have my next dexascan to see if there's improvement. I am probably not a good candidate for Fosamax, etc.
      Calcium Working / Worked
I am taking 1,200mg of this a day since I don't get much calcium in my diet.
    • Open Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD)

I have an adopted Korean daughter who is now 25 years old but she had about 10+ years of being very anti-authority and oppositional. We had her in a residential program for several months when she was 15, it wasn't lock down and she kept running away. But to get her in there we called our local Services to Children & Families and one of the case workers took the case and about a month later she was in a program. He said he had a daughter about the same age so he really wanted to help.

      Treatments

      Psychotherapy Working / Worked
She was in and out of counseling for about 10 years.
