Saturday, October 11, 2008 | A Funny story
I just got the message for all my physical and the new members that have joined under and I show up as being the most active in the Addison's Disease and the Degenerative Disc Disease departments.  I think my face is there in the MS section also.  I was just cruising each place and answered someone of asked them a question and found some new friends.  I also tried to help some of them.   We are all here for each other so I really don't think that they should show who is most active under each disease.  Oh well I wonder where my friend Cathy is tonight?  She might have gone away but not sure because I forget easily - one of the side problems from the MS.  I am going to lay down now and relax,  watch a movie and play solitare then call it a night because I am exhausted.  Had a big day.  LOL to all who read this and keep in touch!!

Well one thing down and better another to go. Mood
Saturday, October 11, 2008 | An Anxious story

Well the blood and platelet levels are back to normal.  That's great news and thank you God for that.  Now another bridge has to be crossed. When they did the catscan on the last admission they found a nodule in my right breast.  It's less than 1/8 of an inch in size.  The doc I saw today did an exam and felt under my armpits for lumps.  I have to go Wednesday for a Mammogram of the right breast and also an ultrasound.  I just had a mammo but that doesn't always find everything.  They are more confident about the findings on the catscan.   I am very apprehensive when I go to the doc's office now and I know that is one of the side effects of the Addison's.  I have never loved the idea of going to the doc - don't get me wrong.  But I am praying that this comes out all right too.  The electric wheelchair is a dream and everyone loves it.  I went to my local hardware store to visit the owner who is a friend of mine and whose daughter has MS (SHE DOES THE WALKS FOR DONATIONS) and he was checking out my Blue Angel.  He made the mistake of asking me how much it cost.  When I told him after demonstrating all that it does his eyes got soooo big I thought he was going to fall over.  I said to him that I could get 2 cars for the same price.  I also said that you have to get sicker to get what you needed in the first place.   After I save the down payment for the Element I am going to get parts for the scooter.  I have to fix that myself since there is no dealer that fixes them anymore.  They aren't made anymore but I am lucky they gave me his number because he has the parts for it.  Most of them are used so I get them at a discount rate.  I would rather take that out than Blue Angel.  That Electric is that top of the line as far as any other Electric is on the market.  Permobil beats out all of them.  The ability to raise me up alone cost 16000.  But I have to treat this thing with kid gloves.  I have trouble getting it into the house because when my Mom and Dad had the kitchen remodeled the counter top had an edge on it that interferes with the door.  I have to try several times but I eventually get in.  I just don't like running into the door and stuff.  I have to go in a little to the right because of the storm door and when I get at the right spot I have to go to the left.  If I hit if just right then I am in the house.  It also fishtails alot at the highest speed but I am still getting used to it yet.  Jim told me to go as fast as I could with it so he could see and he said holy cow she's beating the cars on the street!!  But with the headlights,  signal lights,  warning lights,  back lights, seat lift,  leg raisers,  tilt back.  head rest,  tool kit,  battery charger,  plus thourough instructions I have something to get around in until I can use the scooter especially over these crappy sidewalks and streets around here.  They should call these two towns "damage everything city"!!  But I guess I am happy with everything.  I would rather not have any wheelchairs,  be able to leave the house and get into the Element without being converted and then go to work.  My Mother actually got me some stuff from the grocery store.  I couldn't believe it!!  She has pneumonia and now has to take medicine.  The crap is going around.  I still have it a little.  My shoulders have stopped aching and hurting so much because I am getting rid of the infection.  I have a Neurologist Appt. and then the Mammo.  Also next week the nurse is coming to change the foley and I am going to ask her if she can come back to take a clean catch urine sample - I don't need an infection like that again.  I had some Jamaican sweet bread with cheese today.  Never had it before but the only problem was there seemed to be too much ginger in it.  It hurt my tongue (enter the Herpes) so it was too spicy for me.   But it was something I have never had before.  It was such a beautiful day today - the whole weekend is supposed to be beautiful.  I love this weather because it's just the right temp and the sun is out.  I love sweater, hoodie, or bundle up weather.  The air was nice and the whole getting out experience was great.  I got to see my friend and I haven't seen him in months.  Maybe I can sneak out over the weekend.  I just can't have the nurse catch me.  I probably won't because I bought more DVD's and they should keep me busy besides reading and answering messages from my friends.  Well have to go now and get back to the movie and playing solitare.  LOL  galed7956  (I am praying for all my friends and the people on DS to have a beautiful and hopefully well weekend).

I was just sort of browsing the groups that have the same conditions that I have and reading how they are handling them and the one posting is from a woman who is praying that she gets here SSID because she is in the verge of losing her home.  When you think things are so bad for you then you find someone else who is worse off.  I read one yesterday about a woman who lost her 2 year old son to Addison's because he had a tan which was unusal and the doc's didn't listen to her concerns.  That disease can change the pigment color of your skin.  I just received more information from the Addison's Disease Society.  I have to give them a buzz tomorrow to find an endicronologist near where I live.  I was hoping they would send the names of them but they didn't.  I have to get it put on my Medic Alert Emblem and also carry a card with instructions from a doc.  From what I am reading I am supposed to carry a syringe with cortisteroide in it in case of a Adrenal Emergency.  The causes of that would be stress,  an infection,  swelling of my feet,  skin pigmation changes,  loss of excess weight,  etc.  They said I have a mild case but if I have an infection I am supposed to have the emergency injection on me so that the Addison's doesn't get any worse or hurt any of my vital organs.  I have papers in there that the doc has to fill out and other information about the disease.  I also read in another web site that a woman 27 years of age died from it.  From what I am reading you can live a normal life if you take the medicine that is perscribed.  They have to check your blood every so often to make sure you are getting enough cortisol.  I am on a drug called Flornief that has steroids in it.  I have a lot to do.  Now to get onto other subjects.  I finally connected with the woman from Fizmorris.  I explained what I was told and she told me she is limited to helping me shop but she is not supposed to clean.  I told her that I am home bound and can't leave the house but I need some stuff from the store.  She said she has to talk to her supervisor about what she can do since she is new.  I know that they do trips and such.  I told her the manual wheelchair is foldable and easy to lift.  She is supposed to help me shop (push the cart,  etc.) and also get me to doctor appointments.  I said that as far as the cleaning was concerned that all I needed was someone to move the stuff and I would push the vaccumm around.  I help whomever helps me.  But for right now I just need some stuff like cereal,  milk,   eggs,  bacon,  juice,  just general stuff to eat.  I said that she didn't have to worry about transporting me now but if she could just run to Shoprite and I would give her a check to buy the stuff.  Well see how this is going to work out.  I was told that they are there to help people that are disabled and would also help me in getting the apartment that I need.  At least I got a hold of her.  I also got the nurse moving finally because I need  that foley changed so that I don't leak all over my pads.  I feel like every time I go to the bathroom the other way I have to change a pad so that it is clean.  Tonight I am taking a shower which is always good for the lung crap and the pain still left in the left shoulder.  Thank God most of that pain is gone.  Loss of infection loss of pain.  I am now dreaming of saving the downpayment for the Honda and bringing that home.  Then it should be gone for 8 weeks for the modifications.  I also have to take a course for the Medical Transcriptionist.  All in due time because first I have to see my OVR rep after I get over this stuff and the nurses are gone.  With God's help and all of the great prayers from my friends here I will be able to live my dream.  lol  galed7956

Thanks Cathy for your prayers again and you are right about things being supplied. I am going to enter a new journal entry and hopefully if you have time you can read it. My blood and platelet count are normal they just got lower because of the bacterial infection in my blood. There is more and it's in my new journal entry. LOL Cathy galed7956
