    About Me

I am a stay at home mom to 2 beautiful boys. My oldest, Brian, has been diagnosed with ASD. He is 4. My little boy, Jayson, is typically developing and advanced in language skills. I am recently divorced in the past year. I live upstairs from my mom & stepdad, who are incredibly supportive. I don't know what I would do without them. I am in an incredibly loving and supportive relationship with my high school sweetheart.

    • Close Autism / Autism Spectrum

Brian started EI when he was 17 months old. Up until August of 2006, when we got our diagnosis,he was considered developmentally delayed. He is 4 and currently attends pre-school in an integrated classroom. We have been on wait lists for HBTS for 6 months.

      Treatments

Behavior Management Too Soon to Tell
We are trying desperately to get Brian to stop screaming...NOTHING HAS HELPED!!!
      Brushing Therapy Not Working
saw no difference with this therapy except he enjoyed it
      Early Intervention Working / Worked
could not have gotten by without their incredible support.
      Occupational Therapy Working / Worked
Brian's OT from school is a godsend.
      Patience Working / Worked
thank god I have a lot of it
Picture / Word Schedules Working / Worked
works well at school, not so much at home
      Play Therapy Somewhat Helpful
When a therapist comes to play with Brian, you would never think he was on the spectrum. Not long after they leave, though, the behaviors return.
      Sign Language Working / Worked
this helped in the beginning when Brian was non-verbal
      TEACCH Somewhat Helpful
      used at school
    • Close Neurofibromatosis

I am also a member on the Autism community. My son, Brian, is 4 years old and in addition to autism has been diagnosed with NF-1. So far, all we have seen are spots. We see a neurologist regularly and visit the NF Clinic in Boston annually.
