Journal Entry for January 8, 2008 Mood
Tuesday, January 8, 2008

Dear Journal,

I went for my monthly midwife appointment today and got my blood pressure checked (100 over 70) as well as the baby's heartrate (150 bpm) and got some test results back.  Baby is just over 21 weeks now and 21 centimetres long.  All seems to be well and all the genetic screening tests came back negative (which is a good thing, I'm told).  So, we seem to be right on track.  I need to get in the habit of talking to the baby now, so he/she will recognize my voice when he/she is born.  Exciting stuff! Oh, and for the past week and a half the baby has been kicking. Such a weird, but cool feeling.

I had a great week's vacation in Florida, but am now finding settling back into routine fairly stressful.  Hopefully by next week things will be starting to get better.

Later.

Amy

Journal Entry for January 7, 2008 Mood

Dear Journal,

Just a quick one, as the day is ending.  Had my 18 week ultrasound a few weeks ago.  That was exciting and done better by a really nice lady.  This past week the baby started kicking, and now it doesn't seem to matter what time of day or night, but I am feeling the baby kick all the time.  I guess it helps that I'm sitting down a lot.  What an incredible feeling!

I have my next midwife appointment tomorrow morning.  Will let you know it went.  Sorry this is so short.  The fire alarm keeps going off in our building here at work and I'm having trouble concentrating.

Later!

Amy

P.s. Must tell you all about my Florida trip and baby blanket crocheting soon. :)

Journal Entry for December 14, 2007 Mood
Friday, December 14, 2007

 Well Journal,

It's been a little while since I last wrote. Hard to believe today marks just ten days to Christmas! Even more exciting now that I know this is the last Christmas where it will be just my husband and I. Next year will be baby's first Christmas! I can hardly wait! :)  Yesterday I went for my monthly midwife appointment and got a bunch of standard tests done. I'm glad she warned me about the pap smear.  Apparently my cervix is highly vascular now, so when she was finished, it was like instant period.  A little terrifying seeing all that blood, but it was completely gone (as in no spotting) before I went to bed about four hours later, and a shower got rid of the itchyness, so it's all good.  Have to admit, after not having a period in a little over four months that it was a little alarming to see that.  She was very understanding and kind though, and reassured me it was only due to my cervix, which is perfectly healthy.  She says sex will cause me to bleed because of this, and not to worry.  We also checked my baby's heartbeat last night.  Incredible to hear it again after a month, and not only that, but it sounded louder and stronger and the midwife confirmed that it is at 140 bpm! Wow! I never get to 120 except when working out! She showed me on a chart how big my baby is now and the giant leap it will take in size in just a few weeks time. I can hardly wait for the ultrasound on Tuesday!  My baby is a lot bigger than I pictured, so we should get a really good picture of it next week!  Also, my midwife assured me they are very good and kind at this ultrasound clinic, so hopefully this one will be a wonderful memory to share with my hubby.

Well, that's all for now. Tonight I'm hopping a bus to spend part of the weekend with my parents and then Sunday is early Christmas with my hubby's parents and siblings.  So, I'm looking forward to the rest.  Also, with Christmas break only a week away, I'm looking forward to that too.

Later!

well.. looks like we both did that yesterday.. both had the wonderful side effects of it too.. lol... other that they also took a lot of blood and well.. instant headache and dizziness.. ugh! BUT, when you hear the baby's heartbeat.. it makes everything better! Mine too was 140.. lol.. Oh Tuesday! :) How exciting!! I have to wait three weeks but can't wait! Are you going to find out what the baby is? You are going to have to let us see pics and fill us in! :) I found out yesterday I am already doing the messing with my due date thing and I am more thankful everyday they actually did a 6 week ultrasound. See, they said I am measuring 18 weeks.. umm.. nope! But I know it this time so it went in one ear and out the other. I am happy to hear you and baby are doing well. Take care my friend! HUGS, Libelle
