I'm new here, too...never had this problem before went to doc today. He said it sounds like internal ones ( that bleed, which is what makes it so scary)but wants to do a colonoscopy in 2 weeks to be sure. Guess there's no such thing as too much info in this group, huh? Hope all is well with you...you are not alone!

Close Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
I've had this since 1970's. Tried all the regular treatments. Took many years to get to where I could control this a bit. I still have a lot of problems with it. A lot of work in progress I guess? I know what works and what does not work for me but that can change at anytime. It sure has made a real mess of my life so far.
Treatments
- Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Working / Worked
- Fiber constipates and laxitives cause cramps.
- Bentyl Working / Worked
- Take one pill 4x a day.
- Colace Working / Worked
- Take one pill 4x a day. Mostly keeps things soft enough to pass.
Close Depression
Type: Clinical (Major) DepressionI've been depressed for so many years and tried all kinds of treatments. Nothing has worked very good so far.
Treatments
- Celexa Somewhat Helpful
- Just didn't feel like myself.
- Elavil Somewhat Helpful
- A little is all I can tolerate.
- Paxil Somewhat Helpful
- Uh...I guess it was ok???
- Prozac Somewhat Helpful
- Cannot remember how it worked.
- Psychotherapy Working / Worked
- Trazodone Somewhat Helpful
- Been a long time ago.
- Zoloft Somewhat Helpful
- Worked ok but caused too much gas.
Open Fibromyalgia
I have had fibromyalgia since 1970. I was being treated for arthritis with gold shots. Naturally that did not help me. Went to a rheumatologist and he did extensive tests and concluded that I have fibromyositis as fibromyalgia was called back then. I had been on Ultram (tramadol) until my HMO switched in 1999. I then have been to several doctors and none of them acknowlege there is such a thing a fibromyalgia. So I am not receiving any treatment for it anymore. I am in pain.
Open Arthritis
I have diagnosed as having OA and RA. Both.

- Prednisone Working / Worked
- Dont know if it is working yet.
Open Hemorrhoids
I got a colonoscopy July 9,2008 from a Pittsburgh gastroenterologist. He put me to sleep for the proceedure. I awoke numb and went home. Then the pain from the colonoscopy/hemorrhoids started hurting. I have been trying to find a "cure" or at least a "doctor" that can get rid of these new hemorrhoids for me with no luck so far. I need more info and help with this. Thanks.

- Anusol Working / Worked
- This does not work at all.
- Preparation H Working / Worked
- No suppositories nor ointments nor creams have done anything to help relieve the pain or shrink the new hemorrhoids.
