The girls are during absolutely wonderful! We had our 4 month check up yesterday so I thought I would fill everyone in …

Well the past couple of weeks have been crazy for me, but with a joyous ending. It started on Sat Dec 29. I began having contractions that evening between 2-5 minutes apart. I knew something wasn't right. The doctor told us to get to the hospital right away. When we got there they checked to see if i was dilated and I was almost a 3. They started me on Magnesium Sulfate right away to stop the contractions, an antibiotic in case I had some sort of infection, and gave me 2 steroid shots to help the babies lungs in case they decided to come. Everything seemed to have worked. By that Wednesday, Jan 2 the contractions had stopped and I was sent home on strict bed rest. Which I completely obeyed because I didn't want to deliver this early since I was only 29 weeks. The girls had another plan in mind..lol. Friday night my back started hurting really bad, I had heart burn that wouldn't go away, and the contractions had returned, but worse than they had before. By Saturday morning I told my husband I thought we should call the doctor and head back to the hospital. When we got there the doctor thought we would go through the same procedure as before. Until he checked to see how far I was dilated...I was at an 8. The babies were coming and there was nothing stopping them. They decided it was safest for the babies if I had them by c-section. I told them that was fine as long as I got to be awake. So they took me to the O.R. gave me the epidural and soon after my hubby joined me for the arrival of our little miracles. They warned us ahead of time that we may not hear them cry and we may not get to see them right away because they were so early they may need a lot of help breathing, etc..But it was nothing like that. Ella Grace was born at 11:06 am and certainly made her presence known with the loudest cry. Her sister Madison Lynn was born one minute later the same way. It was the most beautiful sound in the world! My husband even got to hold Madison and I got to kiss her. I'm not sure why we were not able to with Ella. These two babies are so amazing and are doing incredibly well considering they were born at 29 weeks. I can't wait till we are able to bring them home. It is indefinite as to how long they are going to have to stay in the NICU. I am due to go home tomorrow and I can't even think about leaving them here. I get extremely upset, but I know they are in excellent hands. I will keep everyone updated on their progress as often as i can.

Congratulations, wow! that is such wonderful news and they were such a good weight at 29 weeks, my girls were born at 34 weeks and only weighed 3.11 and 4.6lbs but their lungs were strong and didn't need any oxygen, I went through a very similar ordeal like yourself, contractions then stopped the antibiotics and steriods. I know it will be hard leaving them in the hospital but be reasurred that they will have the best care and that's what you want because the real work begins when they come home and you want to make sure they are healthy, my girls stayed in the hospital 10 and 11 days and it was extremely difficult especially as I was going through the hormonal blues but I saw them every day. I am so happy for you, twins are truly a blessing and I hope you get as much joy and happiness as I get every single day.
