Today was terrible at work. The other lab tech's decided to hate me for helping the uleless Research Manager to rearrange Histology to make it safer. The moved equiptment around to make it inaccessable so I would have to move it back, which I didn't. And then they put a standing coat rack on the counter top to show that this was the only good place for it. What they don't understand is that this all has to be done because of their own stupidity. They go into this lab and put on any old lab coat hanging there and sometimes get chemical burns from them! Depending on what substance it is, they may not even have a burn but will absorbe it none the less if they contact it with bare hands or arms, like many of them foolishly do. I always make sure to have a clean lab coat in there and wash it if I used anything toxic or carcinogenic, which often happens in this lab. Because they are all too stupid to do this and continue to expose themselves, and since I voluteer to help with the problems in this lab, I tried to make an area where there would only be clean lab coats. I will personally be washing the dirty ones at the end of the week, carefully so I do not get exposed. But this is the childishness that is going on in a Neuroscience research facility with tech all over the age of 30! Time to find a new job.
