Well Michael is back in rehab. He is still opening his eyes, moving his arms, hands, feet and legs. He tracts to the left only right now. He follows voices to the left up and down but never to the right. It may take a while. When I go in his room in the morning, he is still and calm. As soon as he hears me talking to him, he resonds by eyes opening and lifting up his head and lifting up his hands. It's almost like he knows I am there. I feel like he is trapped and scared. He opens his eyes and he cannot see what is going on around him. This must be hard for him. I am always telling him not to be scared because he is being taking care of even when I am not there in the room by his side. I tell him where he is and what happened to him. I really believe that he CAN hear me. I just want him to snap out of this persistant vegitative state. WHERE YOU ALSO IN A PERSISTANT VEGITATIVE STATE?

Well today the doctors came in and said that my son was in a persistant vegitative state after spending 5 minutes with him. How can they do that in just 5-minutes? I assume that the doctors say this to all parents who are in this situation. I am a little sad today because I thought that he was doing so good and I still do. He has changed a lot since his accident. The eyes are open more but I do not know if he can see me, he moves his arms and legs all the time. I am there for 8 hours a day with him. The doctors see him for 5 minutes. How can they look at my son and say those things to me when i think he is making progress. I am so scared. I do not know what to think anymore. He looks right in my eyes and looks so sad and they are going to tell me that he has not progressed. Or that people in a vegitative state can look at you like that? I can see it in his eyes wheter he can see me or not, he looks scared and trapped. I do not know. Thanks for listening to me. I need to know that they may be wrong and that my son may still have a chance. Well he will be on his way back to rehab soon but they said that if they do not see a change in 6 months then the way he is now is the way he is going to be.

Hey your case is similiar to my sons. If you do not mind me asking, how are you today and how did you make progress.

Well Michael is still at the hospital. He was sent back from rehab because of his high blood pressure and high heart rate. The rehab facility thought that it was a good idea to have him seen by the doctors since they are not equipt for that. Michael now is getting 40mg of propraneral which lowers his blood pressure and heartrate. He is also on heperin for blood clots. He is also on 2mg of morphin for pain. The doctors feel like he will be able to go back to rehab since the blood pressure and heart rate is controlled with medication. The doctors also feel like this is all neuro and that he may have to take the medications for these conditions for a very long time or until the blood pressure and heart rate can be controlled. Other then that he is somewhat comfortable. He is still in somewhat of a coma so I think cause his eyes are open most of the day and he moves his arms, hands, feet and legs a lot but he still does not follow commands and he does not speak because he still has a biter in his mouth so he does not grind his teeth or bite his tounge (which he already did that)
