About Me
Diagnosed with Epilepsy at age 8. Epilepsy Society didn't exist back then. Got put in a Mental Institution and given a Vasectomy (mandatory), then got moved to a Home for people with Disabilities. At age 24 (1986) Brain surgery stopped the seizures but I was kept there. Seizures returned 15 years later at age 39 (2001). Since I was seizure free for 15 years, I had it done again at age 41 (2003) and I'm now allowed to live on my own. It's hard though, as most guys in their 40's have a job, car, money for vacations, while women call me a Bum/Loser. Got involved with singing on stage and became good friends with a woman I sang with until her parents told me to stay away from her. They only want what's best for their daughter and I'm not it. Counsellor said you can't change how others choose to feel, as that's their right. All you can do is get on with life. So that's my life, hoping that one day I'll be accepted by someone... maybe you?
Interests
Singing on stage in a Barbershop Quartet, or Solo with the Victoria Operatic Society. And for all the guys who think singing is just for Girls, you'd better not say that to your favorite Rock Group! Also addicted to Downhill Skiing and Curling in the winter, along with Biking, Swimming, and Golf in the summer. Not into conflict sports where people get hurt, like hockey, football, and rugby.

hi just. read some of your profile. Those who dont appreciate you for you, you dont need them anyways. They are just un educated. If your girl friend really loved you she would have stayed with you no matter what others would say. There are some people out there who just dont understand that the way they treat there fellow man they are treating the lord the same way and they will have to face up to it. Close Epilepsy & Seizures
Diagnosed when I was 8, I got sexually fixed, plus banned from driving and working for the safety of others. I had Brain Surgery in 1986. Doc compared it the filling of a tooth. Eventually it'll break down and need doing again.
Treatments
- Dilantin Working / Worked
- Ruined my teeth. Many deteriorated from the inside and broke off. I now have 6 fake ones.
- Lamictal Working / Worked
- This was the best drug ever!!! Before surgery I was 2 or 3 seziures a day. But this drug took it down to once a week. Trigger - Anything that makes me sweat.
- Surgery, Brain Working / Worked
- MRI showed exactly where the seizures start in the brain. Had it removed and been seizure free ever since. Like taking the spark plug out of a Lawn Mower... it won't start.
- Tegretol Working / Worked
- Since I've had surgery, removing the cause of seizures, I want to reduce my med's to reduce the side effects, but Doc says "If it works, why fix it?"
Close Sexual Abuse
Sexually Abused by a Gay Caregiver. Told the police but No Witness, No Case. There's only services for women as they say men are the abusers. As my abuser was male, that proves it!

- Hitting a pillow doesnt work as it feels like its laughing and saying you cant hurt me.
- Group Therapy Not Working
- Learned you can't change how others treat you. That's their right, not yours. You can only change how you treat yourself.
- Leave Considering
- Thoughts of suicide to make it stop.
- Music Somewhat Helpful
- Being asked to perform on stage gives me a feeling of importance, until my parents use it to confirm their Number 1 Rule... "Never speak unless you're spoken to".
Open Depression
Raped over and over for 4 years and nothing was done about it. Attempted suicide to make it stop. Counsellor said you can't change the way others choose to think. If I'm the one who's upset, then I'm the one who has to change.

- Told me to forget the past, as you can't change the past.

- Most of the support I get is from friends I meet on the internet!

- Parents found my stuff, read it, and shredded it so nobody finds out.
Open Shyness
Learned the hard way what happens when I try ask a woman out. She laughed and said "You're Kidding, Right?" then told all her friends and they all laughed. Never did that again!

- I just sing words I've memorized. No need to think of what to say. Plus the audience is there to listen, not talk to the performers.

Open Physical & Emotional Abuse
Diagnosed with Epilepsy in 1970. Sexually abused by Gay Male Nurse who referred to me as fresh meat, but no witness, no case. No abuse counselling for male rape victims. Now out but classed unemployable for public safety. Also given a vasectomy so I can't have kids. All what others decided was best for me.

- I sing on stage in a Barbershop Quartet to make people see me as a performer, not an epileptic. Sometimes it works, but so many are worried I might have a seizure on stage, and recommend I don't do it... just in case!

- I have Epilepsy, can't drive due to it, and don't have a job. But on the Positive side, I've got all the time in the world to go skiing, biking, hiking, etc while others have to wait until the weekend.
