Mary Rose, may I reprint this next Sunday (a week from tomorrow) for my O Sole Mio Sundays column on my blog. If the answer is yes, may I also use your full name and give the name of your state? Also -- one last item -- can I include how long you've had MS? You can see the other related columns at www.sunshineandmoonlight.wordpress... and just click on "O Sole Mio Sundays". My readers (hundreds of them) need to be exposed to your "pledge" here. Know that I'm on board with you completely. Have a Sunshine Day, Kim

    • Close Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
      Type: Relapsing-remitting MS

"MS" is being more referred as a "neuropathic disease" more than ever. Due to the fact that it interferes with nerves, nerves responses, and coating. Nueropathic pain is the most painful thing you can have, since its dealing with your nerves. The pain can feel like burning, tingling, numbing, sharplike stabbing, and electrical "shock" like pain. It is VERY hard to control and the doctors still dont get it. So dont expect them too. They have no clue. Remember that.

      Treatments

      Avonex Somewhat Helpful
      threw up and felt weird
      Beta Interferon Working / Worked
      Cymbalta Working / Worked
Works in low dosages for sever nerve pain. It was originally made for severe depression, but it is a nerve blocking agent. Takes away neuropathic pain. (nerve blocking)I had to stop it because the symptoms were to bad. it made me feel weird, and nervous.
      Lyrica Working / Worked
I am currently taking Lyrica. It is a nerve blocking agent. It works well with pain management. It does make you feel light headed or dizzy the first week, then it goes away.
      Skelaxin Working / Worked
works very well for MS pain. To make pain go from a 10 to a 4, try taking Skelaxin, Lyrica and Vicaden at once. This was recommended by my doctor but ask yours first. Its a hard cocktail of drugs, but it beats screaming in pain.
      Xanax Working / Worked
Works for tremors, and MS anxiety.
    • Close Hypothyroidism

I was told around 1995 that I was hypothyroid. The medicines still dont raise my TSH, they just raise the amount circulating (T4) and I get dizzy.

      Treatments

      Synthroid Working / Worked
      Makes me feel dizzy.
    • Open COPD & Emphysema

In 2005 I couldnt breathe and was always getting sick. they finally did a Pulmonary function test, which showed I have a bad obstruction of my breathing. (undefined) They immediately put me on meds and it makes the attacks go away for awhile, but I cant be in cold air, do exercise, or I cant breathe. Sometimes I wake up unable to breathe also.

      Treatments

      Advair Not Working
I stopped the advair because it gave me a weird powder feeling stuck in my throat and wouldnt go away.
      Albuterol Working / Worked
This works great as a fast acting inhaler and in a nebulizer.
      Azmacort Working / Worked
      Vicks VapoRub Working / Worked
Works if your muscles are sore in your chest from coughing
      Xopenex Not Working
      Doesnt work
      Hydrocodone Working / Worked
This is a narcotic cough supressent. Works very well for bronchular spasms.
    • Open Anxiety

I dont think I had anxiety until I developed neuropathic pain. I think it was my "trigger"

      Treatments

      Ativan Working / Worked
I have taken Ativan in the past. it works, but you can grow a tolerance to it immediately. I also feel it doesnt last as long as they say.
      Xanax Working / Worked
I am on Xanax now. It takes away the anxiety completely and I am on a way lower dose than the Ativan. Great drug with no side effects.
    • Open Fibromyalgia

I was having pain at the point of pressure. If you touched my arm it felt like you sqeezed it. Also you cant get out of bed.

      Treatments

works very well mixed with a narcotic med.
      Heat Working / Worked
      works very well.
      Lyrica Working / Worked
      Works like a charm. 200mg a day.
    • Open Chronic Pain

I have constant and chronic pain due to my many health issues. I have tried everything. Some days the pain is so bad I cant get out of bed. I have found some things that work.

      Treatments

      Heat Working / Worked
Place the pad directly on the one spot that hurts the most.
      Hydrocodone Working / Worked
Take a Vicaden, then use the heating pad.
      Lyrica Working / Worked
Works wonders for my nerve pain.
      Meditation Not Working
I just cant seem to get calm enough to meditate.
      Neurontin Not Working
It just makes you dizzy and you still have pain. lyrica is Much much better.
      Oxycodone Working / Worked
Percocet works, but can get you addicted fast.
      Skelaxin Working / Worked
I take this with the Lyrica and the Vicaden. this brings the pain from a 10 to a 5 which is half.
    • Open Colds & Flu

Last week my fiance was dizzy and throwing up so i took him to Urgent Care. He tested positive for Influenza type A. Two days later I was sick, and still not myself. That monster make me weak, drained and exhausted. My fiance had to have IV fluids.

      Treatments

      Tamiflu Working / Worked
Works if you take it BEFORE any symptoms. Once you have bad symptoms, dont bother
      Vitamin C Working / Worked
I took it the whole time and I swear it worked!
    • Open Dizziness & Vertigo

I get bad dizzy spells starting around 17 years of age. I have many medical problems that could bring this on, but i get the spells out of the blue, even when I was 17 and on no medication. I get both the type where it feels like your spinning, and the fealing faint.

      Treatments

      Antivert Working / Worked
Meclizine works, but it takes about 5 hours to kick in for me.
    • Open Back Pain

The back pain started in 2005, and just got progressivly worse. The doctors said I have "narrowing of the formina at multiple levels" These formina are crushing my nerves in my back causing neuropathic pain.

      Treatments

      Fentanyl Working / Worked
It works but you can get addicted and vomit. use only if the pain is severe, this is morphine.
      Flexeril Working / Worked
This works, can make you dizzy taken with another narcotic.
      Heat Working / Worked
It works along with a narcotic. lie on it right where the source of the most pain is.
      Hydrocodone Working / Worked
I have to take this on a daily basis or I cant get out of bed.
      Physical Therapy Not Working
This made my pain worse!!!!! especially if you have nerve damage!
