    I am an oncology nurse and cancer survivor. My infertility issues are due to chemotherapy at a young age. I have have lost two babies in the first trimester. I am happily married to my best friend and soul mate!

    Interests

    I love to draw and paint. I love to shop and scrapbook! My family and friends are so important to me. My black lab Meylo is my sweet fur ball! I love him tons!! My most important interest is my DH - I could spend 100% of my time with him!!!

      At 18 I underwent a stem cell transplant for leukemia and due to the chemo became infertile. My DH and I went thru in vitro using donor eggs and became PG on the first try. I had very severe vomiting and was being seen on a weekly basis. On my 10 week appointment (9/27/07) we found that they baby no longer had a heart beat and went in for a D&C. The pain is terrible, both physically and emotionally. We got PG 2/08 but lost this baby too. I underwent another D&C in March 2008. We'll try again.

      Treatments

      D&C Working / Worked
      Just underwent the D&C 2 days ago. Was told it would feel like severe menstrual cramps, it was so painful and I have never experienced pain like that before. 2nd D&C was much better.

      Type: Ovarian Issues

      I had a stem cell transplant for leukemia when I was 18yoa. The chemo destroyed my ovaries and now I am unable to conceive without in vitro and donor eggs. We have done 2 cycles of IVF, both resulting in PG (both ended in m/c). We will be doing another cycle as soon as we are cleared.

      Treatments

      Clomid Not Working
      No results what so ever. No ovulation at all!
      Estrogen Patch Working / Worked
      Used Vivelle as part of IVF.
      Hysteroscopy Working / Worked
      1st one was horrible. 2nd not so bad...uterus is ready to proceed!
      In Vitro Fertilization Working / Worked
      2 IVF cycle with successful implantation but both ended in m/c.
      Progesterone Working / Worked
      Part of IVF cycle.

    • Open Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia (CML)

      At 18 I was diagnosed with CML in blast crisis. I was told my only chance was a stem cell transplant (before Gleevec). I was truly blessed that my older brother was a perfect match. In March of 1997 I underwent a BMT. The chemo was detrimental to my ovaries and now I am dealing with fertility issues after fighting cancer 10 years ago. So far, I reject my marrow occassionally, but I am leukemia free and plan to stay that way!!!!

      Treatments

      Bone Marrow Transplant Working / Worked
      Horrible experience with chemo, long hospital stay, still have GVHD even 10 years out!
      Chemotherapy Working / Worked
      Part of BMT. Had severe mucositis, fertility problems now, and of course lost my hair!!

    • Open Celiac Disease

      Learned after months of problems with GI distress, skin rashes, etc. that I had celiac. The doctors assumed with my medical history that I was rejecting my bone marrow and treated me as such. When I didn't get any better on the BRAT diet I was finally tested for celiac...the results were not expected. The docotrs made me start a gluten free diet before they drew blood and the results ended up being neg. However the biopsies were positive for celiac disease.

      Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Working / Worked
      Hard to do - but I am trying
      Gluten Free Diet Working / Worked
      Gluetn is in more than you think! More items are coming out everday that are gluten free.

    • Open Bone Marrow Transplant

      I had an allogenic stem cell transplant in March of 1997 for CML. My older brother was my donor. I have been free of leukemia since. I do experience GVHD freuently. I am happy to be alive!

      Treatments

      Cyclosporine Not Working
      My body does not metabolize it ~ I stopped taking this during my transplant. Absolutely disgusting medication!!
      Methotrexate Working / Worked
      No longer take it, but had it intrathecially as BMT regimen.
      Prednisone Working / Worked
      My MedOnc likes to try this before prograf, but I hate the side effects (insomnia, irritability, weight gain, moon face, etc.)!

    • Open Pregnancy After Loss/Infertility

      I underwent IVF with donor eggs in July 07 & got pregnant, only to lose the baby @ about 10 weeks. On Jan 21, 2008 underwent FET with my last 2 remaining embryos & found out I was pregnant again! Lost the 2nd pregnancy too. I will stay in this community in the hopes that I will be PG again soon!!!!
