SEE, not only are you a good nurse but you would make a great vet nurse also. Toby finally just did some now hard and hairy and small amount. Went to a picnic today and my vet was there so I talked to him. He said exactly what you said. Stress, lack of exercise, and poor diet- change of food all the time. Said give him a few more days and if he didn't go to bring him in. I'll have to look into that water fountain for him the next time I'm at pet smart. In the mean time, the vet told me to leave a water bowl in the sink and let the water run into it while I'm there. He will eventually drink from the bowl without the water running. I had a real nice long talk with my vet as we ate together. Cat has all his shots, blood tests and wormed so he won't be needing the vet for a year unless he gets into trouble. Pooh "The BIG KAHUNA" is still smacking the little one around but without claws I know that he can't hurt him too much except for a good bite or squash him if he lays on the little thing. Pooh weights 15 lbs and toby only barely weighs 7 lbs. I'm soo use to big cats , toby is going to be different. Like having a kitten that won't grow up. I'm going to take a picture of him now and post it for eveyone to see. Thanks for your words of wisdom. You always manage to say the right things at the right time for me. Hugs Judy

Well, I'm a little concerned about a couple of things. For one I got him on friday and he had a real small bowel movement that was like mini hairballs the size just slightly bigger than rabbit droppings. He hasn't done anything since. He won't drink water from a bowl only running water from the faucet. Didn't eat hardly anything friday or saturday. Sunday he ate tuna from a can would not eat cat food or dry cat food. Today he ate more tuna from a can about 3 or 4 dry kernels and a mouth full of can catfood. but still no movement. Then there is this thing he does with his mouth or jaw. Opens it up ok but when he goes to shut it he like moves it in a jerky manor. This is al probably nothing an I'm just being over observant.. I'll probably take him in to see my vet in a couple of days if things don't change even if it is just to calm my nerves about it. It doesn't seem to bother him at all. It's just not the normal thing I'm use to seeing. As for pooh , we are still trying to get him to stop hissing and to be friends with the new boy. It will just take time and patience. We renamed the cat Toby. They named him Cartier after the jewlery because of his diamond dazzeling personality and heart of gold. I'm not one for riches so I named him after the little boy in a story that ran away from an orphanage and joined the circus and then found his loving parents. it fits him because he is small, and orphan, and our house is like living in a circus you never know what is gone to happen next and then we are his loving parents now. I'll post some pictures of him later.

Close Hypothyroidism
I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism about a year ago. At the same time, my sodium was dangerously low (124), all due to the medication Trileptal. Trileptal was great. I was stable and in good health. I finally felt like I could manage my life. I don't know a lot about how it feels to have hypothyroidism. I know all the technical stuff - I'm a nurse. But I don't know what to expect.
Treatments
- Synthroid Too Soon to Tell
- I'm tired all the time. Working nights doesn't help, but after two months on it, you'd think that I would be feeling better.
Close Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
I was diagnosed with PTSD in 1999, although I've had it most of my life. I grew up with two very emotionally abusive brothers....and sometimes physically abusive. When my father died when I was 14 and I found him after completing suicide, it kind of sealed the deal. I've always had the nightmares, the reexperiencing, the hypervigilance. I've been in therapy ever since my diagnosis and we are slowly chipping away at it. I am now much better than I've ever been.
