About Me
I am living with a husband who suffered a TBI four+ years ago. The recovery process is tearing our family apart and I am seeking help in any way shape or form from individuals who have similar circumstances. Statistics show 80% of marriages end in divorce after TBI. I am trying to avoid being in that 80%.
Interests
Since my husband's accident, Most of my interests have been suppressd in order to work and provide for my family. I used to enjoy life to the fullest, horses, boating, hiking, ATV, reading, writing, sewing, quilting, teaching, friends, community involvement, you name it.... part of me died when he had his accident.

I am sorry about the divorce, but most of you must be relieved. I often think the only reason I am still around is the mother in me. He acts like a child so I must take care of him...

Close Brain Injury
My husband was injured in a farming accident when he was performing a favor for his father. Their liability insurance specifically excluded family members and his family has been in denial about the extent of his disability. They have been very cruel to us since the accident.
Treatments
- Psychotherapy Not Working
- We tried joint counseling. It seemed to help for a while but the counselor told me I needed to relax my control of our finances. I took the advice and my husband went wild, spending all our retirement savings as well as the children's savings, put us far into debt and is now depressed because he ran out of money to spend. So much for taking the advice of professionals.
