CyberSpace & Home Repair
Trapped in CyberSpace
( in more ways than one)
Ever said you would never do something, only later,
turn around and do the VERY thing you said you wouldn't????
Welcome to my World  --
Computer World, that is.

First, had created a Blog on Yahoo to Respond to
Anthony's Postings, then when another family member
decided to use the same forum because her husband is about to receive Cancer Treatment away from home, decided
to 'dress up' my blog so that HER family & friends
wouldn't think I was such a Dork.
Information about me is Very Guarded & Generic.
This IS the Internet, after all....

Yesterday afternoon into the night, one thing had led to another, so I had decided to create a profile in MySpace, WHICH I said I would NEVER do because of all the Perverts that use that sight for Stalking Children, etc.
Plus, I don't have time, but a couple of things prompted me to go on and create a profile,
Generic though it is.

THAT decision was far more complicated and time consuming than I have would have ever dreamed, but really, thought after getting a little experience under my belt with the Yahoo Blog, this would be relatively easy -- heck, KIDS use it, for goodness sake!!
Was I ever wrong about the 'ease' of use!!
Could NOT figure out how to add a background, attractive page, or anything. Became really pretty disgusting AND frustrating.
Even went so far as to download
various programs that were 'suppose' to assist the MySpace person with more options, but in the long run, that proved to be a very time consuming failure, that downloaded too many unnecessary programs that required too
much space on my computer.

Ultimately, spent a lot of time removing those SAME programs from my computer, then going back and
cleaning the registry, etc.

HOWEVER, there WAS One site that I found that I DID like.
PLAYLIST for Music.

Spent a couple of hours downloading a PLAYLIST consisting of 100 songs.  Was shocked BUT pleased at the selection of artists and quality of the Sound.
Must have downloaded at least 50 Beatles Songs alone.
animated gifs
AND, downloading songs was NOT a problem.
WHAT to do with the list AFTERWARDS became the problem...... Could not add the PLAYLIST to MySpace, Media Player, Blog @ Yahoo,
or ANYTHING.  The 'HTML' code would not work.....
sighhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

The PLAYLIST IS saved to the Site I downloaded from, however, but  out of ignorance last night, did do a stupid thing and went a site  recommended by this playlist site, thinking that perhaps I could add the
Link from this site to MySpace, the Blog, and other things.

'Fubar'  -- ever heard of that?  Me, either.
Clicking onto THAT site created an account almost immediately. Fubar is an online 'bar' where people meet and hang out.  Already have friend requests.
That was a FIRST for me.
It's FAR too complicated for me.  There are so many options  -- it's confusing.  The home page looks like an instrument panel of an extremely complicated Wartime Aircraft or a piece of Space Craft, with one needing to know what each feature of each instrument is in order to be able to operate the Equipment.
Finally DID manage to post the Code for the PLAYLIST on a blog entry of my blog, and can click on an 'http' address,
which opens in the PLAYLIST in another window.
Have been enjoying listening to the songs while
spending time on the computer, even if the time has been broken up.
Simply pause the PLAYLIST.
Hotlinkable Free Smiley Face from Free Smileys
But other than that, have NOT pursued MySpace today, the PLAYLIST site, and certainly not the Fubar site.
If I were computer savvy, would been able to transfer this list not only to other programs, but could download them if I knew how.  Must admit, have enjoyed listening to them even while doing chores in the house.
The Polk Audio Speakers on My Computer aren't the best in the world, but they do OK......at least I was my own DJ with the music, and so far, only two songs will need to be replaced.

When the time comes for me to get another computer,
plan to get a monitor that attaches to the wall like the plasma TV's began and now more sophisticated TV's do.
Computers now can connect directly to Digital Cable ....
Surround Sound Equipment can be bought to attach to the computer. Soon in the near future, one won't need a TV  -- Monitors will take their place.
It's already happening, plus monitors for the general public are  getting larger and larger.
Homes are being built that are completely controllable via the Computer and Internet.
One can set appliances from a Cell phone.
Home Repair For The Novice
Now, a complete DIFFERENT Topic.
My commode has been 'running'--
opened the top of the tank, and noticed lime built up on the little medal lever that controls the flap opening/closing.
Considered pouring some vinegar in the tank, but thought best to google lime build up in tanks prior to do that.

You my friend have been caught up in the "World of Cyber-Space. You are so fasinated with this and I am so glad because I like the websites you are finding. The Thrifty one, I just checked out and found a link for housebreaking Miss Niki. I am thinking about talking to DH about getting one of those pans that are similar to a kitty litter pan, only for dogs. I have already told our friends that we are not going to go to Indiana this coming week. The weather is still going to be nasty and I like to do that when it is nice out and we can shop. I have got to check out a few more journals. Have a good day Monday and get a good sleep tonight. Niki tells the boys, "Goodnight." LYL, Barbara

Ah, the two-edged sword of technology! When it works, it's the greatest thing since sliced bread, but when it doesn't, oh brother. I am about as computer-literate as I think I'm going to get and I don't dare get involved in anymore communities unless I want a divorce.

I love the website thriftyfun.com. My goodness there is a lot of helpful information. I tell you, I started getting confused when reading through the info that confused you. You know, I started to set up a profile on my space. Key phrase being, "I started..." I never finished and don't intend to. I don't plan to join any other communities online. I just don't have the time. I already spend about 2 hours trying to comment on everyone's journal. Whew! All I can say is, you're good. Well, I do have a 3 year old demanding my attention too. Mustn't forget that.
Well, you have a wonderful day and I hope you got some sleep last night.

    Love you much!!!
