Thanks for your response to kleptomania. It helps to know it is a symptom of this desease.

Close Breakups & Divorce
After years of marriage counseling, we've finally agreed that we just don't make it as a couple. This is devastatingly sad because in many areas of our lives (parenting, day-to-day marriage things, friendship) we get along. I'm burying myself in my work and my children who live with me and are the reason I wake up every morning with a smile.
Treatments
- Couples Counseling Somewhat Helpful
- Did marriage counseling several times in our long marriage. Helped me understand what was wrong in our relationship. But I learned that therapy can only fix what was broken -- not something that never existed in the first place.
- Psychotherapy Working / Worked
- I'm doing therapy for myself to build self-esteem and confidence during this difficult process.
- Reading Working / Worked
- Have read more books than I can even count. Many were extremely helpful -- Codependent No More, Facing Love Addiction, Mom's House, Dad's House, Something More, Happily Ever After (Kristen Armstrong) and others.

My mother, who is 75 years old, is in the late stages of dementia. The past several years have been hard on the entire family, but most especially for my father, who is her primary caregiver. We have just started in-home hospice care. She looks healthy and beautiful, which makes this disease so very hard to bear. She can understand us still and occasionally speaks. Most conversations are yes/no answers. I'd love any advice on ways to make her happy and comfortable in this late stages.
