RosieE I am raising a grandson (11) now and he is like that ALL the time. He is on Concerta 18mg and Seroquel 500 mg a day. He is so hyper, disrespective, oppositional, and mean I am sometimes fearful. He is in counselling and all that. I am too at my wits end. He wants to run away , kill himself and I don't know what else to do either. Good luck let me know what you finally come up with. Sharon
Hi Rosie, I am just new to this site and when i read your description of your son i actually felt like someone else is going through the same thing i am on a daily basis. my son is 5 and was recently diagnosed with adhd. At school he is doing brilliant but at home, i am walking on eggshells all the time with his behaviour. My 3 year old daughter has been abused from the day she was brought home from hospital, every second of the waking hour I have to watch my son's every mood when my children are together. My husband gets so angry with the way my son treats and talks to me. I get abused on a daily basis more than once either verbally or physically, we are at our witts end. My son is also on concerta 18mg and ritolin 5mg. My peaditrician also adviced giving him anther form of medication to help him sleep at night but i couldn't do it. We came up with house rules and a daily routine that we stick to every day word for word, hour for hour. I have found this has helped my son and he is settling down far better at nights and going to sleep much earlier and varely waking during the night. I had to put my foot down, I couldn't take any-more. It was hard to begin with but after a few months he is used to this routine now and although he is still your classic adhd child,it has done him thw world of good. It is his first year at school and he has a great teacher, the school i chose for him is a strict catholic school that reinforces its rules, something that works well with my son, so far he loves going to school every morning. This may change as he gets older, I dont know. It may be an idea to speak to your paeditrician about upping your sons dose or changing, it can be a case of trial and error trying to find the right medication for your son
Thank you so much! This is the first time I have reached out to talk with anyone about this! It has been very hard to deal by myself.
I am praying
I met my husband about five years ago.He was a really nice man.About two years into our relationship he began drinking and doing drugs. He left one day.About a year later I got a phone call.On the other end of the phone was my husband he had told me that he had ran off to another state to meet another woman and he was on a drinking benge.I told him it was a year ago and that I moved on with my life.He came home and we got back together and he is part of a NA now. program.
I am a mom of three kids and my oldest and middle child was diagnosed with ADD and ADHD. My son has ADHD and my daughter has ADD. It has been really hard raising them with these conditions. They don't listen at times and other times they are really mean to each other. I just need some support from other parents going through the same thing I am. Thanks.
