Well last night was okay at work, a little boring, but i got stuff done. Emma was on usual form, she did my break …
God what a night!
I only got 3 hours sleep because i was so high and couldn't settle to sleep and was up doing this that and the other.
I went into work and had to try really hard to compose myself, to find that 5 staff down! They were frantically ringing around for people to cover as we didn't have enough to cover all the units even. I went up to unit and the next thing i hear is Cath calling over the handicom for support with a student who has epilepsy and guessed the student was have a seizure. I then called to say i was in unit with 2 staff and only 2 children one of which is asleep could i be any help? No one needed me. Then a call came out for someone free, so i answered and she asked me to go to the main gate to greet the ambulance, so i was already buzzing on high, so i said i would, had a good jog down the drive greeting the team manager coming in on overtime and told her the news. I then waited for it seemed like ages at the gate for the ambulance. When they got there i directed them in and opened the gate and called to say they were here and i was greeted by Emma. I then went back to my unit after checking she didn't need me. I get up to the unit and sit down and someone calls for anyone free as a student had been getting anxious about getting their toast and there was no one free to go to the kitchen, so i called and said i was on my way. I took the student to the kitchen and they had their toast and then the student was fine and went back to his bedroom. I then had no idea then waht was happening about unit where they wanted me so i caught up with Emma. In the mean time the seizure had stopped the ambulance had gone, not taken her as she was fine and now asleep. Emma asked if i would stay in that unit as she knew i was more experienced and could trust me to on my guard with her. Cath and her go and do paperwork afterwards and cath brought my bags up from the other unit for me and i made myself comfy checking on the student every move she made and every 30 minutes. A bit over cautious probably, but better than under. It had been a big one at 8 and 1/2 minutes.
It all settled down and i started to nibble on my food and get down to revision. Suddenly at midnight i crashed and started crying, getting stressed with the revision and the fact i don't know anything! After then i went into crazy rapid cycling moods, nearly every 5 minutes and at some points i was buzzing inside and crying at the same time. I had no one to call on as everyone was in units. I had no phone in the unit to ring Emma, plus when i'm in that frame of mind talking ain't much good over the phone, it's hainvg someone near. We obviously have handicoms, but it's not something you want every one to hear.
Well i survived, crammed in some knowledge at the same time. I was a bit short with Emma which i hope she doesn't take to heart, cos i just didn't feel up to talking quickly about it to her especially in such an open space people could hear, so i just siad un hum to are you alright and walked off. I might get a text off her later. She had to go and do medication in a unit, otherwise i would have been hauled into a more private area.
Me and Cath are both in on a night tonight, so hopefully we can get good signal and be able to text each other.
