About Me
I'm a former grade school teacher. Disabled for the last 8 years with lupus and diabetes. I enjoy reading, writing, crime shows and PSP. I have a grown son who is 21 and is in the US Navy. He is serving our country on a nuclear submarine right now for about 6-9 months. He is 21 years old. He emails me every week. He called me from Bahrain a few days ago to let me know he was doing well.
Interests
I enjoy writing. I will be publishing a chapter book for children later in the fall if all goes well. Also, I like to watch history channel shows and crime shows. I spend a lot of time each day with friends I've met online in various groups I have joined. I also crochet for charity.

Close Lupus
Diagnosed with Lupus/Diabetes. About 9 years ago I started falling down and kept breaking my toes. They tested me for everything including MS and all the tests said normal at first which just made me angry becuase I knew something was really wrong. When I started having seizures I changed to a new hospital and finally found a doctor who was able to diagnose the lupus. I'm happy I found this helpful site. :)

- Azathioprine Working / Worked
- Yes. This helps. I cannot miss it.
- Daypro Working / Worked
- Working. I had to replace the Celebrex/Viox cuz they both got taken off the market.
- Neurontin Somewhat Helpful
- I think this medication might be robbing me of my ability to think clearly! It is supposed to help with the pain from my neuropathy but I think it makes my brain go foggy!
- Norvasc Working / Worked
- the only drug that helps with the circulation problem in my feet.
- Plaquenil Working / Worked
- Oh who knows. I just don't know.
- Positive Thinking Somewhat Helpful
- For the last 7 years or so I thought it was working. I think now I was just stuffing the feelings and ignoring them. I just don't know. All of a sudden all this anger and depression seem to be constant.

- I had my first appointment yesterday. For a homework assignment I was encouraged to get out of the house on my own and I did. :)
- Topamax Working / Worked
- Best medication ever for migraine prevention! I haven't had more than one or two in the two years I've been on it. Works for my seizures too.
Close Codependency
I'm in a relationship where I come LAST! It is a blended relationship the 26 yr old child and grandchildren rule the house. I got beat up in February by this adult child. And I'm disabled.

- When it gets really bad I just put on my headphones and listen to my favorite tunes and melt away the stress... Sometimes I use my mp3 so I can sleep.

- I've used books for an escape since I was about 8 years old.

- Sure--I can talk online to strangers. Talking to the ones I love is where I struggle.

- Journaling--blogging...venting sometimes works. Also I've written poetry etc that has helped me through a lot of hard times.
Open Chronic Pain
With my Lupus and neuropathy and diabetes I feel like I am in constant pain. It really makes the depression worse.

- Couldn't sleep without it some nights.
- Lidoderm Working / Worked
- Yep. I use these on my ankle and on my feet. Sometimes on my back.
- Meditation Somewhat Helpful
- works sometimes!
- Morphine Working / Worked
- Couldn't live without it.
- Naproxen Not Working
- was worthless!
- Neurontin Somewhat Helpful
- I think I'm gonna tell them to take me off this.
- Topamax Working / Worked
- Awesome stuff! Great for migraine prevention.
